Being the only participant I was looking forward to receiving an individual introduction to Lao cuisine. Somewhat unfortunately, the trainer seized the opportunity of having a student with medium kitchen skills to rush through the preparation of the individual dishes at extreme speed. The course started with a c. 30 min visit to a large market a bit south from... More

Attended the evening class which is supposed to run from 5pm until 7.30pm, bưt was finished up by 6.30pm. Before we began the class we were met by the Australian owner who was very eager to take our money but just as quick to disappear and leave us in the hands of the instructors. Leng and Phia were our instructors... More

This is class is very hands-off. You watch a teacher quickly make several dishes, of which you choose a couple and then cook entirely by yourself. Unless you're able to memorize their every move, it's not going to turn out the same. I was overall disappointed with the quality of instruction, the price, and the taste. :(

I attended the Evening Class from 5:00pm -7:30pm. The Instruction started at 5:15pm and the stoic instructors, Leng and Phia, did not crack a smile, laugh, make a joke, engage in conversation, or able to answer our questions effectively. The class consisted of boring demonstration of 4 dishes - extremely rushed and orderly... No room for a smile or any... More

i agree with everything previous posters have written. boring and rushed market tour, disinterested teachers who provide no feedback and dont even eat with you. everyone in our party got sick immediately after eating there. rude, and loud australian owner eager to take your money. this place should be shut down. only wish i had read the reviews before wasting... I agree almost exactly with what Emily L from Brisbane says below: * cooking demonstration was dreary and inadequate * disinterested presenters (one of whom had such poor English that I didn't understand 90%), and given in a sing-song, parrot fashion * basic and rapid explanation of ingredients and questions were not encouraged * members were then left to "get... What a disappointment! My experience of the full day cooking class was like a comedy of errors. There was one other person booked for the class with me (we were not together, strangers). We went to Phousi Market, but our chef/guide was too busy buying personal items (socks and gloves) to teach us much about the food there. Not once... More

So far we've done three cooking classes on this trip, on in Thailand, Laos (this one) and one in Vietnam. This one is our favorite so far. It's well structured and very hands on. Loa food can be a bit simple but I was very excited about all the dishes we learned how to cook.

We did the evening course and felt exactly the same as the other reviewers. There is zero engagement from the cooks: we even tried to attract their attentions on numerous occasions and still couldn't get them to check or critique what we were doing. That's the constructive criticism- the good thing is that the cook book is very well and... More

We were really upset after the evening course. I totally agree with the last persons review. The Aussie lady was clearly repeating a script she reads everyday! The two chefs were terrible they just didn't want to be there. They rushed through the dishes and then sat drinking beer and talking on their phones not even willing to help. We... More
