I visited the shalimar gardens many years ago and it was truly a beautiful piece of a glorious past. On a recent visit it was heartbreaking to see that they had fallen into ruin and disrepair because of the ineffectiveness of the Pakistan government to look after their own. Made me want to cry. More

The gardens are in the Mughal style, similar to the Taj Mahal and many other historic sites around Pakistan and northern India. They're extensive and quite cheap to get into, but in a poor state of repair. The site is obviously not much used, and is very short of cash, care and attention. Fort in Lahore is well kept and is worth to visit, Shalimar garden surronding is not upto the mark,and the garden maintance is average,It needs to be beautified. More
