Thanks to gulping of massive international donations , the once beautiful garden is in sorry state and can be seen in cheap repairs on any of the boundary walls. More

The gardens and pavilions are currently being renovated and the pink stone is being imported from Jaipur, India. We hired a guide for 200 Pakistani... More

I visited the shalimar gardens many years ago and it was truly a beautiful piece of a glorious past. On a recent visit it was heartbreaking to see that they had fallen into ruin and disrepair because of the ineffectiveness of the Pakistan government to look after their own. Made me want to cry. They're extensive and quite cheap to get into, but in a poor state of repair. The site is obviously not much used, and is very short of cash, care and attention. Having said that, it is still possible... More

I loved this fort and the gardens - it was blistering hot, the week of several suicide bombs and in truth I was very worried about being in Pakistan on business let alone wandering around a 'tourist attraction' even with a guide - but standing looking at whats left of it knowing VERY few people will get to see what...
