Peshawar museum is situated near Governor House and near Peshawar Cantonment Railway Station. The building is very culturally built. The historic ancient items from Buddhist era are kept and well preserved in the museum.

Peshawar Museum is a place where one can find sufficient number of items belonging to Buddha. Still people are searching at their own at different places but everything that is found is illegally sold to foreign countries. Even then the museum contains a lot to see and enjoy.

The museum may have a glorious past, but the actual situation is just a joke. Artefacts are hardly labelled, Display of the artefacts & maintainance of the vitrines is simply beyond words, considering the 20 plus guys who sit there and wait for the time to pass. I am pretty sure, Sir Aurel Stein would find even more drastic words.

The Peshawar museum is an excellent place to visit, starting with its building. It is housed in an old British building, which is architectually interesting. The building is large and airy, quite pleasant. The museum collection is very interesting. They have many stone statues and in particular boast a full collection of the Buddha's life in stone statues. They also... More
