This place is amazing but please be careful We saw a lot of dried blood and people who had cut their feet.

We got some great pictures here. it was amazing to see and respect and all the mini pagodas or pages within. Do not miss this in Mandalay

Built in or about 1874 under King Mindon Min as a memorial honouring his younger brother, Kanaung Mintha, who was assassinated in 1866. One large golden pagoda, and a field of smaller white-washed pagodas. Well maintained grounds and gardens.

Sanda Muni pagoda's style look like Kuthodaw Pagoda's style. You will see , there are many white temples for stone slabs. It was built by Hermit U Khani, like the World's largest book. All of the stone slabs are 758. These stone slabs are more than the largest book. But it is just copy of the largest book and it is also new one.

The Sandamuni pagoda in Mandalay is known for its large golden zedi, its hundreds of shrines containing inscribed marble slabs and the largest iron Buddha image in Burma, the Sandamani, after which it is named. I loved the place.

The Sandamuni pagoda in Mandalay supersedes the Kuthodaw pagoda as the world’s largest book. Like the nearby Kuthodaw pagoda, each ‘page’ is a marble slab about 170 x 110 cm, inscribed with instructions on how a Buddhist should lead a moral life. Each slab is housed in its own temple or shrine. There are 1774 of them arranged in a grid around a central stupa. It is an impressive sight.

Opposite Kuthodaw pagoda in similar style with many white pagodas dotted around the main pagoda. What is particular about this pagoda is the massive cast iron gold coloured Buddha reputed to weigh 18,000 kilos. Personally I preferred the exterior many white pagodas.

This was one of my favourite pagodas to visit while in Mandalay, it was also full of white stupas like the pagoda with the largest book (sorry name eludes me it starts with a k).

Good thing about visiting this one is you get half the crowds which makes it a little more enjoyable.

Looking through my photos after visiting most of the temples in mandalay sands Muni ones looked the best.

The place is not very crowded, and it is close to Mandalay palace and other interesting places, like Kurhodaw pagoda and Shwenandaw monastery. The view of so many white pagodas is amazing, just remember to bring sunglasses, as the view is quite literally blinding!

A walking distance away from Kuthodaw Pagoda and the place wasn't crowded. Didn't spend too much time there as the pagoda was under restoration when I visited. It would be beautiful once it is done. Be sure to take off your shoes and dress appropriately.

Beautiful paya ‘hidden’ behind Guthawraw paya. Often empty of very few people as most visit Guthawraw which is right behind it.
Lots of places for the perfect photo.
Highly recommended.
