Amazing how close up you get to the bears. They have done a marvellous job here and it is such a beautiful thing to see these bears once treated so cruely being rescued by the sanctuary and living out their days in peace in a lovely environment.

Really nice place, get to see bears close up and clearly well cared for. Knowledgeable and caring staff. The website is unclear on when you can go. You can arrive from 9-11am - we arrived at 11 and still got to stay until 1pm. Also you don't need to book. The road to it is super bumpy but fine if... More

Really nice to see that bears are being taken care off so well after years of captivity and cruelty. Sad and nice in the same time. They are doing a great job there, I must say,

The sanctuary is North off the Zanesti to Rasnov road at the Zanesti end of the road. Watch for a very small sign about 150 metres from the turn on to a rough road. The road is ok if you take your time. Travel up the hill for about 1.5km and you will find the Sanctuary. It is only open... More

Our family visited Libearty during our week in Transylvania. We got there at 10.30am up the bumpy road which went on for a couple of miles. We got to see how the bears had ended up needing to be rescued and how they are cared for now. Our guide showed us round and pointed out that this was not a... More

The main reason which my partner and I had decided to take a holiday in Romania was due to an interest we have in bears. We has previously researched Bear sanctuaries in the world and had decided upon Romania as as a whole it offered more. The bear sanctuary, although impossible to find using public transport, did not cost much... More

Bit of a wait to get in with no shade or weather cover, fair amount of walking but shuttle available. Video tells the story & we had a rather quiet but pleasant male guide. Small merchandise shop & clean toilets & drinks machines. Opportunity to get within feet of many if the bears (but watch out for electric fence which... More

Nice to see the bears in good conditions, being well cared for. Sad that they have to be looked after this way but after years of ill treatment they are not equipped for the wild.

This place is doing a good job trying to save and rescue bears that have been abused in the past. Some have been relocated from places now inhabited by people. The exhibits are well done and the bears seem to have a good amount of room to roam and play. Our sanctuary guide did not speak English or Spanish only... More
