This is an amazing place. You have the chance to come face to face with the incredible brown bear in a beautiful natural habitat. All the bears here are rescued from horrible conditions, every single one has an incredible story. It is a joy to see this magnificent animal enjoying a bear life as it should be. The guide will... Libearty is an inspiring place to visit that highlights just what a few well-motivated and committed people can do to "make a difference". Set at the end of a bumpy, but easily drivable track, the sanctuary provides a home to 81 formerly captive bears and a few wolves. When we were there 2 coach loads of Romanian children were there... Amazing place! We really dont felt like in a zoo, but like an expected and welcomed guests at a bears real home. The stories about the bears past are upseting, some of them arrived to the shelter wounded, blinded, suffered in terrible conditions. And its a real pleasure to see them now in such a peaceful and quiet place. Highly... More

We visited on a very hot day but saw a considerable number of bears as it was feeding time. The stories behind these individuals is very sad and it is amazing that all this effort has been put into making them happy again.

It is extremely upsetting to hear of the horrors these bears have been subject to by humans but when you see them in the sanctuary you feel overwhelmed that they are now safe and in a natural habitat. It is good to know that by visiting and paying the entrance fee you are helping to care for these bears. You... More

Visiting the bears was the unexpected highlight of our trip! These poor bears have suffered in terrible conditions before being brought to this wonderful safe haven in the mountains. We couldn't believe how close the bears came to us, it was a real privilege to get so close to these majestic creatures. We could have stayed all day and watched... More

Bears do not need the selfish love of humans. Give them back the freedom and protect them! Starting from this, you can spend a great half day going to the Bear Sanctuary in Zarnesti. It's well worth it! The place is well maintained and well organised. You feel like you're not intruding, yet you can see a lot and get... More

Amazing how close up you get to the bears. They have done a marvellous job here and it is such a beautiful thing to see these bears once treated so cruely being rescued by the sanctuary and living out their days in peace in a lovely environment.
