Piata Mare is a beautiful large square. During the summer there is a fountain in the middle that seems to entrance kids, and a few adults. Great fun to sit at a cafe or on the benches in the square and watch the kids and pigeons play.

The Piata Mare (big square) is a great place to stroll around, see the sights, have a drink sitting outside. A great european square.

Nicely done! After substantial investing in preparation for being named the European Cultural Capital in 2007, the center of Sibiu is worthy of this title!

I loved the square so much I had to take the whole family back this orthodox Easter to experience the ambiance again. Looking down from the Saxon Era Evangelical Church's tower you have an amazing view of the square and beyond.

It is the center of a city that practically has the same configuration as some 4 or 5 centuries ago. There used to be places like this in Germany or Austria centuries ago but they disappeared.
