A must visit attraction if in the area. You can find out more about the Romania Traditions and life in the countryside. In the museum area you can find a small market with traditional Romanian foods and sometimes even some traditional music. There are also restaurants were you can enjoy a nice meal. I recommend this attraction.

The museum is situated in the natural park "Dumbrava Sibiului", in the southern outskirts of the city. It is a nice tribute to the traditional Romanian way of life. You will find here different peasant houses from many historical regions of Romania and constructions typical for the agrarian societies. It is like a "time portal" because you can enter in... More

We´ve been there as a part of our exchange visit and everything was perfect. It is a great area full of interesting old buildings. All you need is to be careful about the weather and plan in advance. :-)

A very large area with lots of different types of reconstructed old Romanian houses - it feels like travelling back to time. We visited it in the winter and the indoors were closed, but it was still a great experience.

This museum is a great surprise and we didn't expect to see such a variety of houses. It includes many traditional houses from different parts of Romania and it also has the interior of the house. Very nice to visit. Great in terms of any other world air open museum.

Astra museum is an excellent place to wander around and see the old style of homes and how people were living sustainably. It features houses and workshops of the traditional Romanian folk culture from the pre-industrial era. Over 300 houses and other buildings are situated in the forest around two artificial lakes with over 10 km of walkways between them.... More
