Well preserved, it features part of Romania's reality from the past and the present

If you find yourself in Sibiu and you feel like taking a walk, a long walk outside the city (but very close to it), somewhere you can also eat and learn something more about Romania, go straight to Astra National Musem. You'll see many things that no longer exist or things you never thought existed - used by peasants in... More

Visited on a grey day, wandered round a lot of old buildings, didn't find much to enjoy. OK, I get it, it's a museum and it's supposed to have old buildings, but I'd hoped to see a few more signs of life, such as people in period dress, craftspeople at work, shops trading, etc, like happens in many similar ethnology... We visited end of may & expected to only be in there for 2 hours. We came out just over 4 hours after we went in & had rushed the last half of the buildings. For 17 lei per adult it was an absolute bargain. it was a beautiful walk through woodland & round a lake filled with the sounds of... More

The museum is a really nice time machine. You can really see how Romania countryside looked in the 17'th, 18'th and 19'th century. The view is great from any part of the museum. You can see the mountains over the forest that surrounds the park. There is a good restaurant inside the museum where you can eat Romanian traditional food.... More

We have visited the Museum of Traditional Popular Civilization and it was lovely! No cars, fresh air, extremely helpful and friendly personnel. The houses were in a great condition. It took about 6 hours to see everything but it was well worth it.

The museum was really beautiful, it's worth visiting and observing the differences in house styles according to the zone. We were unlucky and got a rainy day, but on a sunny afternoon it must be spectacular! I would recommend at least 3h for visiting, it's worth it! You can get there with bus no 13 :)

The most beautiful part of this museum is the "Museum of traditional folk civilization" which is situated in Dumbrava Sibiului, about 8 km away from the center of the city. You should visit this part of the museum on the first hours of the day because they are closeing the museum at 18:00 and you should know that only from... More

Went here with some colleagues for dinner. We had some daylight left so walked around. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, and the 'museum' was a wonderful look into Romanian culture and history. Wish we had been able to spend more time here.

It was apparently still not in season in the beginning of April, all the houses was closed, except for the main museum room...big estate, quiet and charming, great for walks in spring weather.
