We´ve been there as a part of our exchange visit and everything was perfect. It is a great area full of interesting old buildings. All you need is to be careful about the weather and plan in advance. :-)

A very large area with lots of different types of reconstructed old Romanian houses - it feels like travelling back to time. We visited it in the winter and the indoors were closed, but it was still a great experience.

This museum is a great surprise and we didn't expect to see such a variety of houses. It includes many traditional houses from different parts of Romania and it also has the interior of the house. Very nice to visit. Great in terms of any other world air open museum.

Astra museum is an excellent place to wander around and see the old style of homes and how people were living sustainably. It features houses and workshops of the traditional Romanian folk culture from the pre-industrial era. Over 300 houses and other buildings are situated in the forest around two artificial lakes with over 10 km of walkways between them.... More

I have seen lot of details mentioned by others, so I will focus only on what might help to be prepared for a visit there: - if any risk of rains, be prepared for (it is a walk in a large park, so limited places to be used as shelters) - if you have small childrens, better don't. It is... More

I paid Astra Museum a visit in March 2014 with a friend living in Sibiu. It is such a splendid exhibition with the diverse display of traditional costume, household facilities, and other cultural items from many centuries ago till now. It spreads over a spacious area, with lake, hills,..Very beautiful natural setting. Highly recommended this place for those who love... More
