I belive that Astra MUseum is nicer then Muzeul Satului from Bucharest. The museum is very big, and it's a great way to spend some outdoor time. It has a lake with boats and bikes that you can rent. Great staff, beautiful surrounding and good food.

If you're near this place and the weather is nice, grab a ticket and spend the whole day exploring this amazing museum and its beautiful surrounding, and talk to the nice staff that's always willing to share a story or two about what they're doing there. The museum is enormous and simply beautiful, strongly recommended to families with children. It's... More

Spent over 3 hours here and still no went to everything. Fantastic place, most on well surfaced paths. Had a very interesting visit to the fisherman's buildings where a very proud man explained everything - even taking the group beyond the ropes!

This open air museum is a lovely way to spend a half day. There is parking available on site for a small fee. The signs posted on the exhibits are in both Romanian and English. It is a large site, so wear appropriate shoes as not all the pathways are hard paved. There are carriage rides and exhibits with chickens... More

The Astra Museum is my no.1 choice when it comes to open Museums in Romania. In my opinion it's even better than the Village Museum in Bucharest. Museum is very well preserved and lies on a very big surface. Therefore, visiting it, is just like have a long walk in the park while also discovering some very interesting facts from... More

It is quite large and if you love history ... one day is not enough to visit all ... the original houses are seated as much as possible in the areas which mimics their natural habitat. There are few guides, retired people, who know tons of stuff about the history behind the residences. You can find very, very old properties... More

A museum for a which a day is not enough. The most interesting thing it is the interaction with museum employees because you can learn a lot from them.

This should be mandatory on your list. You can see here old houses placed in the forest. Everything is clean and well organized. You can spend here around 3-4 relaxing hours.
