It is a magic place. Come here and you will forget for 2-3 hours about stress, cars, polution, politics. It is a very quiet place. Yo feel like you returned in time. There are very old houses that look outstanding. You can have lunch in a restaurant 200 year old. There is an experience worth living You won't be dissapointed.... More

We went to Astra not really knowing what to expect. We were very glad we went! It is similar to the historical village that I work at in Western Canada, so I found it very interesting! It was much larger than we expected it to be, and there was so much to see. The little churches are definitely worth taking... More

My first time to Romania and I so enjoyed this museum. It was very interesting to learn how people lived so long ago. There was so much to see. It was a very unique experience and a beautiful area still undergoing renovations. Well done!

I went to this museum for the first time in april but since I didn't see all of it I quickly decided to return some other time. I returned in May and the place was as charming and tranquil as ever. The small houses, windmills and the lake helped create a relaxing and beautiful environment, perfect for a stroll or... More

This museum is my favorite museum from Romania. I think it is the largest museum i have been to : it is situated in a very big area with lots of trees. There are a lot of traditional houses, each in a very similar nature environment with the real ones. The houses for the shepherd are in a more hilly... More

Lots of buildings, water mills, wind mills, homesteads, presses etc relocated from across Romania. set in a large parkland setting with lake, woodland and well laid out paths. Three traditional Inns with food and drink. Well worth at least half a day. Very close to Sibiu Cheap Taxi fares for transit

Nice open air traditional museum, with houses, watermills, windmills that will take you back in time. Very good as a recreational park as well.

I have traveled to at least 20 countries, but this museum made a really deep impression on me and my wife. It's not the fact that we're Romanians, it's just that we're into nature. Visited on 2007 but now it's really improved, by the beginning of 2015 it will be paved all the way. You can get there by bus... More
