I just didn't expect the wealth and intensity of colour, with decorated columns and domes and huge panels telling biblical stories as well as a very, very impressive iconostasis. Entry is free but for a small payment they will allow you to take photos.

Human sized catherdal. Not an inch of wall and ceiling left white. Pictures everywhere, colours everywhere, total overload. Free admission, working church, beggars outside add to atmosphere. Priest english speaker and humorous. Star!

Best viewed outside from across the road. If it's a sunny day the domes look golden. We went inside which was free. We got a blessing from the priest who was very friendly. Beautiful murals inside. Really interesting our favourite thing to see in Varna. You can take photos inside for a fee.

Outside the cathedral we got pestered incessantly by dodgy cab drivers and money exchangers – which we duly ignored. The building itself however, is best viewed from across the road, near the entrance to the pedestrianised bit of town. Up close you don’t get to admire the lovely domes. Inside is nice, though you will get accosted by the priest... More

Worth a visit no matter what religion you are. Just be careful around this area as its a hangout for bag snatchers
