Like they say, the Assumption Cathedral is one of the "must-see" highlights of any visit to Varna. This temple is 2nd biggest cathedral in Bulgaria after St. Alexander Nevsky in Sofia. It was built during 1884 to 1886 in honor of Bulgaria's Liberation from the Ottoman yoke.

A wonderful landmark in the heart of Varna. The lighting makes the view even more impressive at night time.

I visit Bulgaria most years and never tire of this beautiful cathedral. Great central location, grand exquisite exterior and even more beautiful inside. We were lucky enough to see a wedding take place there last year which was a wonderful experience.

This is the centerpiece to Varna--in my opinion. It's a beautiful cathedral with copper domes and right on the main roads (9 & 2) through Varna. It's worth a stop for a visit and pictures of you can find parking. Entrance is free.

An interesting Cathedral, with mixed characteristics (orthodox and neo-gothic). Interesting frescos.

Had the possibility to only see it from outside, but it was still nice experience as it is an emblematic place in Varna

I arrived here just as the service was ending, quite small area inside but the chandeliers and atmosphere are great. I was allowed to take photographs and freely wander among the worshippers. Very peaceful place but with quite a few beggars outside. Spent about 20 minutes here and well worth dropping in, only two minutes from the pedestrian area and... More
