Half the fun of going to Nebet Tepe, Plovdiv's highest point, is walking through the Old Town and stopping to admire the huge, colorful National Revival houses. The gradual incline makes the ascent easy. But I found the site itself somewhat anticlimatic after succumbing to the charms of the renovations I noted on the way up. Little has yet been... More

Don't miss the chance to climb to the very top of hill, which is scattered with remains of old Philippopolis and offers truly magical views over all of Plovdiv. The recommended time is early evening when the weather has cooled and it is full of courting couples from allover the world.

This is an ancient wonder spoiled a little by the concrete supports perhaps by 2019 they will put stone fascia on it, a little graffiti, a restaurant nearby, the views are great.

The place is nice for taking some pictures of the landscape. We went during the sunset time and it was nice.

For a location that is steeped in the history of many civilisations over several millenium, its a shame there is a complete lack of tourist information. Still, its a great place to enjoy wonderful views over the city and Rhodopi and Balkan mountain ranges.

Nebet Tepe is the remains of an ancient town, We have been told that this was the first city center of the south-east Europe. Plovdiv is among the oldest city, like 6,000 years old; and probably more hidden sites to discover. We enjoyed our 3 days walking around and discovering that there is some beautiful buildings, and also, still a... More

One of the easiest hills to climb while in Plovdiv. The walk though old town to reach it is pleasant and you can admire Plovdiv 360 degrees including the Maritsa river. On top of the hill, a few Roman ruins.

Plovdiv has managed to piece together an exceptional amphitheatre with back wall and statues. Worth a visit at the low cost of entry. Open till late, even on Sundays.
