The ancient monastery was fascinating to see and the priests in residence are very friendly and interested to speak with visitors.

Would have love to see how it looks like from the mountain above, and also spending more time visiting all the rooms and churchs (it was raining and they were close). Next time!

The monastery “Assumption of the Virgin” is near village Bachkovo. Very beatifull route between mountains and river. You can see treasures from the 17th century and icons.Easy parking with a small fee and many small shops and stands.

Being the second biggest monastery in Bulgaria I was expecting something a bit bigger, But still it's very well preserved and definetly worth the trip.

The location and the atmosphere at Bachkovo Monastery is unbelievable. I always enjoy coming here. There is a path behind the monastery that leads even more mysterious places...

Visit one of the most popular places near Plovdiv. It will charm you with the amazing nature surrounding the Monastery. For those who would like to try typical Bulgarian food a great restaurant is always open and home made jams, honey etc are easy to find.

... very interesting place to visit. i can imagine the serenity of the place when it's not busy with tourists and pilgrims. if only i got more time to venture and explore the area, i would have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the beauty of the monastery in its natural surroundings.

Interesting place steeped in history. Beautiful monastery, slight incline/hill walk up from the car park. Small market/stalls selling traditional crafts etc. worth a visit
