Fantastic old town with houses, Roman theatres and museums. Great view of Plovdiv from the top of the hill. This is a must if you are in Plovdiv

Very nice and really old with some interesting shop of antiquity. Go there with sport shoes. The roads are very old.

I have been in this part of Plovdiv several times, just because of all the things that are there from the Roman time. Its fantastic too walk and touch the roman wall, some statues and all the marble that is several thousand years old. Since I first started visiting Old Town, they have become better and better preserving these important... More

Small streets, traditional architecture, lovely painted churches. Avoid the main streets in the Old town and try the smaller ones, because there you can feel the old atmosphere.

The old town is a bit spread out and the streets are very rocky. They are making an effort to preserve the historical sites. The stadium is interesting in that a model shows the original structure and they have creatively used the remaining bit. The amphitheatre is intact and houses performances, it can be seen through the fence or there... More

We spent an evening in Plovdiv on our way to Istanbul. We did not know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. Everywhere you looked in the old town you saw ruins of the Roman city including the basement of a shopping mall. It was exciting to see a practice of a youth orchestra in the amphitheater. It would have... More

I lost my heart to Plovdiv. The people are very kind, and you have a collection of medieval and Roman history mixed with kindness. I found the people much kinder, and more helpful, than Rome, and they were there to help me enjoy their town, not just rip me off. It's incredibly historical, but with all the benefits of modern... There is a simple reason that this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site - there are many houses, churches and assorted other structures to enjoy. Walk the hill going up and be sure to look out for small signed posted on several of the buildings (both in English and Bulgarian) that describe the structure. The amphitheater is fantastic and several... More
