Loved the old houses, ancient theatre, and Nebet Teppe. It was tough to walk on the cobble streets. Don't wear heels! Also, some buildings need serious restoration. Stunning all together nonetheless, and I felt safe. Bulgarians here are very helpful and friendly.

Nice place, very well kept, so well kept and neat that it ends up looking like a tourist trap.. the roman remains have been treated way long better than what they did with the ones in sofia, anyway.. to get there we used vitosha express bus departing from sofia central station (ticket booth is the first on the left of... With attractions rather close to each other, the Old Town is culturally rich in the day and romantic at night! I love the churches, the arches and the view at the peak. Definitely worth a visit :)

This was a quaint section of town. Many nice shops and museums to see. Be careful on the cobblestone. It is tough on the feet and legs.

Yes, the streets are authentic cobblestones but this is part of the old town's character and sturdy shoes need to be worn. There are many interesting sites; ruins and museums and we found the shopping to be quite good. Definitely worth visiting as a day trip from Sofia.

The old town is a very nice place to visit while in Plovdiv: plenty of churches, restaurants, galleries, and museums! It is situated on two of the five remaining hills in Plovdiv. The atmosphere is very nice, it feels like you went back in time for a few centuries. Some things are a bit overpriced, but nothing unexpected for a... More

Thanks the fact it is not yet a tourist highlight, the old city of Plovdiv keeps a lovely and authentic atmosphere. It is small and easily navigated. The only problem is unlike many of the ancient towns, the streets are not coble-stoned but actually covered with huge rocks of different shapes and sizes. Even wearing the most comfortable shooes does... More

A wonderful area of shade trees, old homes, (some furnished and tourable) narrow streets and walkways, beautiful churches, cafes tucked into the nicest niches, affordable vendors, and more.

plovdiv old town is a must when you visit here but it is quite steep and the roads are cobbled so no good if you have difficulty walking and almost impossible for wheelchairs. if you go up , there are churches , museums , houses , bars / restaurants , gift shops and a wonderful ampetheatre. the views from the... Similar to Rome, Plovdiv is built on seven hills so some of the walking is uphill - and on slippery cobbles. Be careful and you will be rewarded with a walk around one of the world's oldest cities with a remarkable history. Some excellent cafes and restaurants, at which you can take a break. Well worth the effort.
