As a hilltop town with parking at the bottom and cobbled streets you need to wear sensible footwear to visit here. Interesting architecture and views at the top, Some tourist shops and you can see artisans making things to sell like woven products and jewellery.

Old Plovdiv is great for those who like the "old" style of living. Plenty of shops, bars an restaurants. But, beware of the pavements. They are not looked after and on a dark night, they can be dangerous. Otherwise, you will enjoy it.

The walk through the old town is a pleasant trip through history - every stone you see has a story and the insight this gives you into the life in the times of the Romans is inceddible. The amphitheatre is extremely well preserved - it is a must see!

This part of town gives you a good idea what Plovdiv must have looked like a long time ago, there are plenty historic houses on cobbled streets, and there is a lot to see.

A must see. Too rich to describe in few words. Old and beautiful houses, very clean looking, very warm, very aesthetic, cobble stone steep streets and surprises behind every corner. Not very easy walking, you need good stable shoes. Free guide books in English in the Art Gallery at the foothill. Picturesque place, so be prepared to take a lot... More

The Old Town area is very pretty and charming and quaint. A mixture of interesting architecture featuring Bulgarian Revival designs, accented by trees and flowers. A Roman-era amphitheater with nearby cafe's makes a nice place to stop. BUT..... The streets are a maze making driving impossible so you will be walking. And you will be walking on the roughest uneven... More

Excellent impression about this town located on seven hills.Old town is big, well preserved, good restaurants, nice museums, good souvenir shops. Suggest for one day walk, eat, pictures not in a hurry.

Be sure to wear serious walking shoes. We have never experienced huge cobblestones like these! The town is so old, very clean, with great efforts at preservation. In April, we were practically alone in many museums. The views are nice at the top, and it is really great to just get lost wandering the old city. The young residents are... More

The old town of Plovdiv in listed as a Unesco site. There are some interesting things to see but in the oldest part of Plovdiv the street is made of old sett and so walking is quite unconfortable. And sometimes there are some hills. Anyway the small effort is greatly recompensate.
