The fortress is more or less a great wall surrounding a huge park which holds several historical monuments. It is a nice place to visit on a sunny (or cloudy, for that matter) day to simply walk around and explore.

A good example of a tourist attraction taking over a monument that needs attention and restoration. I am not stupid and know that in this region money is needed elsewhere.

Not the most impressive one - must see if in Nis, butnot worth to visit the city to see it. Still one of the main city attractions. The good think about it is that it is turned into city park with free access, overlooking the Nisava river.

Very nice historical place in the middle of the city, which is now large city park. It is known as one of the best preserved monuments of this kind in mid-Balkans. The fortress is a location of two large city festival, first one dated from 1966 and it's called Nis Film Festival and the other one is from 1995 and... More

It is a very beautiful park free of charges and has a lot of ruins to see. There are also two restaurants in it.

The fortress is in fact a huge and tranquil park surrounded by large walls where somebody not connected to the local history cannot see too much. To raise it to the ranks of a fortress is a bit too ambitious and the building of the local historical archive can hardly be an interesting thing to see for a tourist. Having... More

Nis Fortress is located to the North of the river. You can walk there from the center of the city or find parking place on both sides of the bridge. Parking is paid on working days from 7AM to 9PM and from 7AM to 2PM on Saturdays. The entrance is free. Once you enter the gate you find yourself in... More

Nice aria but unfortunately I didn't feel there is something special. I visited many times and it's still looks the same. The garden around is good for walking but you can't have your rest for a coffee.

I think they should be paid more attentions for this place. I had visited this place many times and it's same all the time. Nothing new. Nice garden but there are not good shops or cafes to have rest.

Beautiful park situated in a Fortress with lots of monuments from different periods, mostly Otoman rule in southern Serbia. There are few bars that are suitable for a coffee during the day but also work as pubs/clubs during night. Must see while in Nis.
