This is a really nice green space in the heart of the city. There is an amphitheater used for summer concerts and films. Nearby is a nice cafe for a coffee on the terrace. There are a few historical sites as well as stone artifacts housed within the fortress, and one can walk on the walls for nice views over... More

Very interesting place, steeped in history, plenty of bars and restaurants and places to relax, as well as a nice park to stroll around and the river and city centre nearby.

Walking through the gardens of the fortress was very popular with the local people, and students. If you carry straight on you will come to the Concentration Camp, which is not well signposted, but also worth a short visit.

I have visited this place several times with my son, there is something on offer from young and old. In the summer the place is alive with the music from the Jazz Festival. There is a tourist information desk at the gate where they speak English and are more than helpful. They let us leave our luggage there once for... More

Apart from the gateway and the mosque, there is little so see, albeit I did not visit the Skull Tower. It is a pleasant stroll in the park, and there are a few roman gravestones, but nothing of great interest and not much information. .

The mark of Nis, the Fortress is a must for all who come to Nis, a place to rest, to enjoy the nature, to see the cultural artifacts dating far back into the history, to talk with friends over a cup of coffee in some of the cafes, to listen to modern, jazz, rock, classical and other types of music,...
