We like Dubrovnik - who doesn't? - but after a few days the crowds, practically constant from early morning to late after midnight, started getting onto our nerves. We "escaped" first to the outlying islands, then to Montenegro. We had our own car with us but you could easily go on an organised day trip or rent a car. And... More

A visit to this true gem of town is a must. The city is surrounded by an impressive well preserved city wall protected by Unesco. Once there, you will realise why the town is a World Heritage site as it offers a remarkably preserved old town with impressive buildings such as the Cathedral. Wander in its alleyways. The entire town... More

We arrived in Kotor by cruise ship and the scenery as you enter the Kotor area is simply breath taking. I was looking forward to visiting the old part of Kotor as I'd never been before and the majority of reviews on here are very positive. It might be that I've been spoilt by my love of Venice but to... More

We visited Kotor on a cruise recently and took the opportunity to book a private tour through APOLOTOURS of Budva. We selected this option as one of the party was in a wheelchair and felt the cruise-organised tours would be too rushed for her. Apolotours were highly efficient and organised everything via email well in advance. When we arrived at... More

Visited Kotor on a cruise ship. Had a excursion round Montenegro itself followed by a quick guided tour round the old town. Looked beautiful from what we had seen. Some friends we met on the cruise said they had a wonderful time wandering the streets. If we ever return we would definitely have a wonder round the town.

They say anyone who is anyone will want to go to Kotor when they hear about it. They're right. It's a stunning little place: a medieval walled city (very small) with narrow streets and pavement cafés. The cathedral is worth a visit too if you have a little time to spare. It was too hit when I was there to... More

I loved Kotor! The location, the scenery- it's just gorgeous. You can walk up the city walls. It costs €3 and there are hundreds of steps. It was well worth it though as the views at the top are incredible. If you can't walk that far, don't worry the little town itself is lovely in its own right and you... More

The fortified old town is worth visiting if you are around, but you can only experience the real beauty of the area when you climb the mountain and see the panoramic views of the bay and the cruise ships. You can either do that by climbing the stairs up the walls of the fortification (many hundreds of stairs), or if... More

A mini Dubrovnik with lots of little narrow side streets leading to shops, bars, cafes and restaurants to explore. Lovely harbour area where, if you are lucky enough to see, the lovely cruise ships berthed there. The medieval architecture and numerous monuments have put Kotor on the world natural and cultural heritage site.
