Cathedral in my home town,so maybe I'm a bit biased but I think it is very beautiful, since it was built for more the 100 years and different people overlooked the building it has different styles, but all in all I think it came out great. The must see is it's human faces carved all around the cathedral.

I can't ever recall seeing such a unique and wonderful cathedral, starting on the outside. Whenever I saw the human faces, more than 70 of them, surrounding in a line, side by side, all around the front and sides of this place, I was astounded. They were so lifelike. Supposedly they are portraits of the commonfolk who lived in Sibenik... More

My favorite bits of this church was the sculptures around the main entrance and on the ceiling of the baptistery. the baptistery alone is worth the price of admission. The church it's self seems small for a 'cathedral'. There's a lot of cinder block looking walls but the small side chapels are spruced up with marble and attractive statues.

The Cathedral of St James in Šibenik (1431-1535), on the Dalmatian coast, bears witness to the considerable exchanges in the field of monumental arts between Northern Italy, Dalmatia and Tuscany in the 15th and 16th centuries. The three architects who succeeded one another in the construction of the Cathedral - Francesco di Giacomo, Georgius Mathei Dalmaticus and Niccolò di Giovanni... More

...but still amazing. Completely different style to what I was used to in term of cathedrals. Not speaking about the joy of walking round the Sibenik and finding different and gorgeous views on it

The square in front of cathedral has live performances with paid tickets. The Cathedral is very beautiful and worth a visit.

One of our friends from Sibenik told us that it actually took 100 years to build it and over 6 million EGGS. They used it as adhesive. Also the cathedral is a perfect mix of gothic and romanticism because of that hundred years construction. In front you can see the statue of Juraj Dalmatinac (one of the cathedral designers) and... The Cathedral of St. James in Sibenik, Croatia is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and at first blush one might ask "Why this church and not dozens of others in Croatia?" Technically the answer from UNESCO is that it combines a uniquely successful fusion of Gothic and Renaissance art in one building. This is not immediately obvious on first seeing... More

I definitely recommend visiting the cathedral if only to visit the Baptistry. The building is currently undergoing renovation but was still great to see inside

Rather an interesting church on the outside as there is a frieze of 74 faces of local citizens from an earlier time. Now the church is a Unesco World Heritage Site and was designed and built in two levels. The best feature is the baptistery with minutely chiseled stone decorations as the rest of the interior is unfortunately full of... More
