Paklenica National Park was established in 1949 and includes a section of the Velebit Mountains, the park occupying approximately 95 square miles. Much of the area is covered by one of the largest forests on the Adriatic coast but also 37 caves, the most famous being the Manita Pec, 170 meters long and 39 karsts springs. Name of the park... Such an amazing national park - we visited four on our trip and this was by far my favourite as it's optimised for walkers and the views are stunning. We bought a x2 day ticket but only really needed one as the second day we entered from Mala Paklenica (which you don't need a ticket for and is the other... More

We were in luck and on the day we visited the park it rained so there weren't that many tourists around so we could enjoy the place at it's maximul potential. The park is gorgeous: the waterfalls, the lake, the forest, lots of fish in the water. I especially liked the design of interventions and the final result. The trails... More

National Park over the Starigrad, 45 min from Zadar is a paradise for climbers. I was surprised by the number of climbers on the rocks. I opted for a route to the mountain house (about 2 hours). Although it is summer, the trail passes through a canyon and most of it in the shade, so it's not a problem for... More

There seemed to be only one route you could follow. There were so many visitors you just had to follow everyone else. The staff were not friendly or helpful and there were not enough of them.

This place is AMAZING. Loved walking around for the day in the beautiful scenery. Definitely worth the trip and the entrance fee - which is only 180 kuna so not much to pay. There are also ferries and buses around the park to help you get around.

So, national parks usualy offer beautiful nature scenes and so is with this one. The most impressive are great rocks arround you. Many alpinists come there to climb and to practice climbing. That's also very interesting to see. Furthermore, there is nice spring with drinking water (all along walking way) which refreshes you whith its coldness and sound during the... More

Be prepared with a map, water, good walking shoes, a packed lunch and some sun protection and you'll have a terrific day out. There's plenty of parking at the foot, so pay for your ticket get back in your car and continue driving to the bottom of the limestone gorge. The walk up is a treat and gets more impressive... More

We camped nearly at Camp Stine and walked through the park to the cave. It is quite a hard walk but amazing views and we had a fantastic day! Not too touristy and well worth a visit.

I visited NP Paklenica im August 2014 with my friends and stayed for 3 days. My friends and I love to walk the mountains, climb the peaks and camp in nature - so our goal was to see the highest peaks in Paklenica (Vaganski vrh & Sveto Brdo) because of the beautiful view of the Dalmatian coast on one side...
