I visited entrance #1 in October and really enjoyed this park. Only spent 7 hours but could have easily spent a couple days. Entrance #1 is supposedly the easier hike. Glad it was for my asthma. Steep canyons, gurgling steams, clear skies and cool weather made it an ideal day. The drive from the gate to the parking lot can... More

Amazing way to spend the day. Travel on public transport is so easy and Although the entrance to the park is a bit of a walk, it is very much worth it. We took our own lunch and was glad of this because we went on a Sunday and there weren't many places to buy food.

National Park Paklenica is one of the must-see things in Zadar county. We went on one day trip and was one of many times we've been there. Because of beautiful pure nature, loud sounds of creek water, clean air, relaxing and easy 2-hour walk to the mountain home this is quite nice and highly recommendable place to visit. Also, the... Velebit mountain is a wild mountain where only experienced mountaineers with appropriate gear should go. And with a mountain guide if you are not familiar with the terrain. The Great Paklenica Canyon ("Velika Paklenica") within the National Park "Paklenica" though is different. Anyone can make the hike, even in sneakers or trekking sandals (no flip flops, please!). Through the Great... More

For me this was the complete unexpected gem and the surprise of the trip to Croatia. It was worth the 2 hour drive from where we were staying in Zadar and I only wish I knew in advance and had booked to spend a couple of days in one of the hotels in or near this magnificent place. If you... More

We took a tour of the park and it is really very beautiful. So much water! It was also very crowded and people were walking different directions so it was difficult to linger too long.

Visited the park after a lot of rain so the waterfalls were really good and strong. There is a fair bit of walking in park but not to bad as we took it in our stride age late 70s. A lot of the walking is on boardwalk which helps, the sail on lake to take you out of park was lovely... More

Much as this place is a climbing mecca, kids can wander up to lovely sights. As a walker, be prepared to have a map, it is not all that obvious. Plenty of opportunity for food, drink and toilets. Fantastic day out!

Paklenica National Park was established in 1949 and includes a section of the Velebit Mountains, the park occupying approximately 95 square miles. Much of the area is covered by one of the largest forests on the Adriatic coast but also 37 caves, the most famous being the Manita Pec, 170 meters long and 39 karsts springs. Name of the park... Such an amazing national park - we visited four on our trip and this was by far my favourite as it's optimised for walkers and the views are stunning. We bought a x2 day ticket but only really needed one as the second day we entered from Mala Paklenica (which you don't need a ticket for and is the other... More
