We saw the larger of the two canyons. Lots of rock climbers but I understand their season is not year round. Apparently, the most popular ever German movie was filmed here!

We stopped for a few hours on our way to Zadar to hike up the gorge. It was a nice walk. Since it was early in the season, there weren’t a lot of other hikers, though several groups of rock climbers were present. We enjoyed a nice hike up the valley and back down. Took about 3 hours total up...

Great place, breathtaking nature, but poor information!?!? How can a Park be open, and you cannot visit the Cave (their major attraction)? It's like you go to Plitvice but can't see the Lakes:(
Make sure to ask if they are working, otherwise you'll lose 1,5 hours of serious uphill hiking. It's not a complete loss, but we were very disappointed...

If you are into no-kidding mountain rock climbing, this place is for you. Pre-bolted routes are everywhere and plenty of challenging off-path routes to explore. Had a great day at Paklenica, the walk up to the mountain hut is picturesque and well maintained but i would highly recommend the extended return trip from there back to the carpark, down the other side of the valley. You get to see completely different landscapes, amazing views along tracks rather than maintained footpaths. total round trip takes about...

Impressive gorge, reasonably easy walk. Nice place. Park at the lower car park if you don't enjoy passing on narrow roads!
Great place to go exploring the mountains a place of peace and a total beauty can also be fab for mountain climbers.
VELIKA PAKLENICA (the bigger of the two canyons)
We stayed at Pansion Roli (sufficient essentials and more) in Starigrad-Paklenica, drove to the end of the road (photogenic hamlet near end, pay entrance fee at office, drive on), parked (good thing we arrived early on Sunday morning: we got one of the last parking spots because the parking lot is not...

Do you enjoy a tough walk in stunning nature. A friend and I found Paklenica to be exelent place to visit for a daytrip from Zadar. Entering the park you will see a lot of mountainclimbers getting their fill trying to tame the steep mountainwalls. I`m not in that leage, but its equally nice to explore the lovely mountains following...
