It's probably the only free thing in Dubrovnik: water at the Onophrian Fountain! So don't forget to bring your bottles and feel them up so you're prepared for a day in the sun in lovely Dubrovnik. Or just sit down at the steps and watch people taking photos or eating ice-cream.

Great meeting place. During the evening, there were 2 gypsies that had parrots they were showing where people have an opportunity to take hold and take pictures. No charge, just a good tip.

This domed structure has 16 separate 'fountains' delivering water into troughs round the perimeter, and stands just inside Pile Gate, at the high end of Stradun, so is the natural focus for visitors to use as a meeting point. The is therefore also popular with street traders and vendors, and has displays of parrots, magic and all the other tourist... More

Nothing new to add - a piece of Dubrovnik history As a walking tour guide told us - there are a lot of things to pay for in Dubrovnik, but water is not one of them - this is a good source free cold drinking water - always worth nipping back to refill while in the city, buy an ice... More

There is a great deal of history in the fountain. It does tend to be a meeting spot or a place to sit and have an ice-cream. The fountain is still functioning and the water is drinkable. Nice cool water on a warm day.

Great place to set as meeting place if part of a group or separated. Hang out at this historical fountain that was bombed but survived. Plenty of ice cream vendors by here to enjoy some cold treats while taking a break from all the walking.

The Onophrian fountain that was bombed in 1991 still stands just near the main entrance to Dubrovnik's Old Town. Now, it serves more as a meeting spot and the location of ice cream sellers than anything else. Note: Like most tap water in Croatia, you can drink the water from the Onophrian Fountain!

This is a monument to meet at rather than to admire but it does have interesting detail and it was rather moving to see how it was damaged during the bombardment of 1991

It is situated between two ice cream sellers, and is somewhere cool to sit when it gets too hot. Also you can fill your water bottles here.
