I was very impressed with the restoration effort of this old city and especially after I learned of the hell it went through during the most recent war time in the 90's. The people are very friendly and there are numerous photo ops as you wander the cobblestone streets. There are parts that get very narrow and consequently very crowded... More

The magnificence of the old city and the restoration since the damage done during the war. Being winter time there were many shops and restaurants closed. At 7.30pm Friday night next to nothing open for dinner.

Dubrovnik is incredible. The old town just looks fantastic, the city walls are one of the best attractions in Europe. The streets shine in the sun and at night the lighting is magnificent. As you can see from the near 4000 TripAdvisor reviews, everybody knows this... and here lies the problem. Unfortunately, the cruise ships have seriously tainted this place... More

A must see - full of tourists (like us!) lots of average restaurants but full of history (recent and not so modern), marvelous scenery, great walks (if you like hills) very cultured, boat trips, museums, city walls walk.

Walking with my wife through the old streets of the old town was one of our highlights of our anniversary trip. Gorgeous, safe to walk around, full of history and interesting. Not to be missed out on doing for any traveler to Dubrovnik.

Character, clean, pleasant to stroll around., lovely atmosphere and shop owners were polite and helpful. I dislike restaurants that rip off tourists. Will be eating in our room from now on.

Dubrovnik Old Grad is one of the great experiences of our lives. So why only 4* rating? The buildings including Franciscan, Dominican and Synagogue are superb external/internal structures. You wonder around and can not help but be impressed by the detail everywhere and the level of restoration. You could wonder the streets and alleys for couple of days just looking... More

It was so beautiful there - walking along the narrow side streets with the amazing character in this place!

The Street 'Placa Ul' from the Pila Gate to the Church of St Blaise is one of the most elegant streets you will come across, with shiny stone slabs. Near the Franciscan Friary we came across an excellent Cafe/Bar which we revisited many times for food, snacks, alcohol and hot chocolate/cakes. But there are also parallel streets on both sides... Lots of activities to do, we get a Dubrovnik card so we visited many museums with this but to be honest we wouldn't recommend this as they weren't that great and had us chasing round Dubrovnik trying to find them. We also went on the semi submarine which was good but I spent more time above the water enjoying the... More
