The scenery is beautiful. Restaurant prices on the island with the monastery are very expensive. The water in the smaller lake is very warm.

This is one of my favourite islands. There are no cars so you hire bikes and ride around the island and swim off the rocks in the lakes. Nice quaint restaurants to lunch at on the way.

Took Nona Ana catamaran from Dubrovnik to Polace in the National Park end of the island of Mjlet for a day trip. The logistics of getting there, both ferry to the island, buying park tickets and bus to the lakes, are a bit chaotic but as soon as you start swimming in the saltwater lakes with paradise as a backdrop... We did a day trip from Dubrovnik, and while I really enjoyed Mljet I would highly recommend people to stay for a couple of nights to make the most of this lovely island. We arrived at about 11am and had to queue for 20mins for National Park tickets and then there was a huge amount of people trying to get... More

What a beautiful island, 'my girlfriend and I hired a push bike and rode around the whole lake. A great way to see the whole thing. Stop on the way for a swim in the crystal clear turquoise waters. A quick stop at the konoba ( restaurant) for lunch or coffee and then on to the end of the road... More

We stopped off here on a sailing trip for a cycle tour of the lakes. Highly recommended, if you can manage the steep uphill from the port town, and the uphill back. Cycling around the lakes was shady and scenic - the lakes are an exquisite turquoise colour- and apart from the central swimming areas, it was not too crowded.... More

We travelled to Miljet from Korcula by speed boat (a 12 man Rib) whcih took about 35 minutes each way. It was a little pricey at 270 kuna per person, but worth it. We all enjoyed the boat trip which was fast efficient and on time. We were dropped in Pomena and were able to hire bikes at the port... More

Went for a one day trip. We rented bicycles and rode around the small and big lake, swam in the sea with absolutely stunning colours. A great place for spending a relaxed day in the calamity of sea breeze and pine forrest scents.

Visiting Mljet from Dubrovnik is a great way to spend a day away from all of the tourist hubbub, and enjoy some serene nature and swimming in the ocean.
