We read mixed reviews of Mijet, but decided to do it anyway, and have to say were pleansently surprised. It has plenty to do there. There is an abandoned monastery, little gardens, lookout points, a huge Fort with amazing views over to Dubrovnik. A little cave and lots of spots to swim. The water is absolutely amazing. There are a... More

After reading other reviews, this was on my to do list. As it rained we were unsure whether to go. However on a thundery rainy day we went to the Island on the Nona Ana Catamarran. It does take 3 hours to get there and back but such a wonderful place to visit. When we got to the Island the... More

An easy boat ride from the main port. Boat goes at 0915 but get there at 0815 to secure tickets. Upon arrival hire a bike and head for the national park. Bikes make it easy to see both of the beautiful lakes and the paths are flat, although there is a small hill to negotiate on route to them. Swimming... More

This is a lovely island, enjoyed swimming in the very blue, warm sea lake. We found it difficult to find some where to eat. When you get off the ferry go to the ticket office for the national park, there is a bus that takes you to the park. It is too far to walk.

We had a wonderful day on the beautiful island of Mljet!!! We caught the ferry from Dubrovnik to Polače which cost 140kn each. We left at 9:15 and returned at 4 and the journey took 1hr45 each way. The entrance tickets to the national park (you can buy them on arrival) cost about 80 or 90kn (I can't remember exactly!).... More

A beautiful island we visited on a day trip from Dubrovnik. The trip wasn't easy, an 8am queue at the port and then a two hour ferry ride to mljet. Once we arrived , you have two choices, either hire a bike or catch the free bus to the monastery. We went for the latter. We spent the rest of... More

rarely an island has impressed me as Mljet did. If you are looking for a peaceuful and unspoiled spot, this must be the place. The entire island is covered with pinewoods which give a sweet flavour to the air. The sea is green, the coves beautiful. And the Salty lakes with the monastry and the little island just amazing.

Take the daily Catamaran from Dubrovnik, would recommend getting there about 45 mins early to get tickets (140kn return) and good seats, to the port Polače to visit the National Park. We hired bikes at the port and were told that yes we could cycle round the lakes. We then cycled to the National Park where we paid the entrance... More

I was hesitant about a long day trip, but my sea kayak guide recommended the journey and I am so glad I took his advice. I got the 90min catamaran from the port to the National Park. Arrived as suggested 1 hour before departure to buy tickets. Very easy. Only a few others arrived, but the queue filled up quickly... More

We spent a week in Mljet as part of our honeymoon, after a week in Dubrovnik. It was stunningly beautiful and unspoilt, the national park being a real highlight. We perhaps didn't plan for the fact that there is only one supermarket on the island (the owner of our holiday flat offered to take us there, and we turned him... More
