I agree with the reviews that say you could do with some explanation about the history of the fort - it clearly had an important job to do but you had to make that up in your own head! As with the city walls, the views are stunning and make the many steep steps worth it.

...The complete absence of any signage to actually explain the fort and its history! I agree this is an astonishing structure. Intact, impressive and clearly Game of Thrones material. In fact, you will want to take care on the steps, the terraces and within the building. It has the potential to be a dangerous place! What I really wanted to... More

Had to visit the Fort while near the Old City. It’s outside of the city walls and is also used extensively in Game of Thrones for the King’s Landing location shoots. The entrance is not obvious when you walk outside the walls – just a small staircase takes you down and around to the bottom near the water and then... More

This is free if you show your ticket for the main City Walls, otherwise you have to pay about £2. We had to take several stops on the way, plenty of benches supplied, as the steps are many. Game of Thrones fans, this is where they filmed Joffrey's Name Day.

This fortress offers a unique view of the old town of Dubrovnik and when you consider that it is included in the cost of admission to the city walls then it is a must do. It is quite easy to find and does involve a bit of a climb to get to the top. Game of Thrones fans will get... More

Not obvious to find the route to the Fort. Access alongside the market area down a slope where the buses stop at the Pile Gate, you will see a sign high up on the wall at the end of the slope. The climb up is fairly long and steep in places but easily accessed. For those with a Dubrovnik card... More

but worth it. Perhaps because of the difficulties finding the path, the fort had verr few people in it when we arrived. The fort is in good condition and the views are really lovely, especially for getting pictures of the walls and old city.

Old fort is now a museum to the defenders of Dubrovnik during the Balkan crisis. Well worth a visit delivering a poiniont reminder of the waste wars create.

You look back towards the city walls from here, and it's a view worth seeing. You also see beyond the immediate town which is interesting. Lots of Games of Thrones filmed here, and it's easy to see why. Worth a visit but only if you are fit with good knees

We went in the late afternoon after walking the city walls (included in the price of the walls). Some amazing views of the old town and the island of Lokrum. Plenty so steps to climb but worth the effort.
