A must do

great ancient history and a must do when in Dubrovnik. Would not recommend in the heat of the day either when it opens at 8 or late afternoon

We did this on our first day. There are lots of steps which we initially we struggled with. This is fabulous open air exercise and by the time we had completed the walk we could manage 100 steps without a break! This is a fantastic way to introduce yourself to Old Town Dubrovnik. The views are fabulous. Music can be... More

Don't miss it! It's the best way to see the whole old town. The view is breathtaking! If you can, go in the morning. Its more quiet then. There are a lot of steps you need to climb so I wouldn't recommend it to people who have challenge with that.

The climb up to the walls was not too challenging, but don't forget the sunscreen on a hot day! Once we got up onto the walls, it was a leisurely 1 - 2 hour stroll throughout. It was not too crowded with tourists when we went (around 10am or so). Provides a wonderful view of the old town and Fort... More

As soon as you enter the city through the Pile Gate pay £10 each. Takes best part of a couple of hrs if you stop for photos or coffee, lots of steps so wear walking shoes. If its hot you are very exposed , can be very busy so make it your first stop as early as possible. Views are... More

We visited Dubrovnik in October 2014, we only had a day because we had arrived on MSC Preziosa. We walked form the Cruise terminal to the city, it took around 20 minutes and was not to ardious. We spent an hour walking around the town, and bought some lovely lace and Linen at really good prices then did the walk... More

Definitely worth seeing. Took us about and hour and a half max and we were stopping to look around. We got tickets at the office just to the left of the arch to Pile gate (from inside old town it was on the left). Handed in tickets and started up the steps to the wall just to the right of... More

If you really want to have the all picture of the old town and the walls don't miss the opportunity to walk on the walls. I advice you to buy the Dubrovnik card for one day, because it includes the walls access and several museums for almost the same price.

We elected to walk around the walls ourselves rather than take an organised tour and we really enjoyed the experience. Entrance costs about £10 and is payable just to the left inside the Pile gate. Great views, several cafes on the walls and souvenirs available to purchase (we bought a bag, tea towels and some very lovely jewellery!). It really... More
