We visited the island in April, catching the boat for the short journey (70Kuna pp) just before midday. The island itself is quiet, and relatively easy to stroll around although you should beware the paths are uneven and, in places, very steep so anyone who struggles walking probably would not enjoy a visit. The ruined monastery is interesting - it's... More

Choose a cafe (I loved Cele) and sit. Have a drink, watch people, listen to the music, wait for the clock tower. Absolutely wonderful on a nice day.

Do it. Easy 15min boat trip to the Island. Lovely walks. Lovely terraced modern cafe. Light meals, cakes, coffees etc. not expensive, on a lovely terrace. Old Monastery ruins. Gorgeous salt lake that we swam in today!!!! Cold but lovely! The Island is full of peacocks just wandering around! The Island is stunning!

This Island is placed just in front of the Old Town. If you have free afternoon and you don’t want to go far from Dubrovnik this is a great place to visit. You have boat from the harbor in the Old Town every 30 min and it takes around 15 min to get there. Excellent place to relax, swimming and... More

If you get the chance, take the regular ferry from Dubrovnik (just near the Old Town) to Lokrum Island. I only takes about 10 minutes and then you can spend the whole day wandering around the island, finding places to swim, and discovering relaxing spots for a sleep and/or picnic.

It is a protected nature reserve. You will find a beautiful landscape, forest and coast, some places are for swimming. Most citizens are coming for their daily swim. In the park you will see beautiful plants, and peacocks. The island is not big and from the coast you have a terrific view on Dubrovnik. By boat only 10 minutes travel,... More

If you are spending a few days in Dubrovnik and would like to get away from the tourist intensity, taking the ferry to Lokrum is a perfect counterpoint. The hike up to the old fort is worth the exertion (be careful on the rocky rubble) for an excellent view of the old walled city, and it will give you a... More

With four full days in Dubrovnik to explore, Lokrum was an excursion we planned to squeeze in. The ferry from the Old City leaves a few times a day and you can buy your tickets directly from the dock. When we went there was no risk of the boat being sold out but I imagine in peak season you may... More

The island is a short and pleasant boat trip you can take from the old town in Dubrovnik. The island is a nature park and the gardens are worth a look round. You can walk round the island easily during the day and you can relax and take a swim in the rocky area on the far side of the... More

After several days exploring Dubrovnik, the short ferry ride to Lokrum beckoned. As a nature park, the first features noted are the trails leading all over the island, through varied terrain, up hills, along the rocky coast line, and mixed with several man-made features. First the trails. Maps provided as you come on the island are helpful, although one could... More
