Definitely worth a visit. I think it may be a nature reserve but is definitely geared towards being an open space for the locals and tourists to escape city life for the day. Allow a few hours to walk around the island and spend time on the rocky beaches swimming.

This is well worth a visit if you can spare the time. Boats run every 30 mins (on the hour and half hour) from Dubrovnik Old Town harbour and return at 15 past and 15 to the hour until 20.00. The boat ride takes 16 mins. Lokrum is a magical place of forest and nature with peacocks and peahens wandering... More

I spent a wonderful day on Lokrum with a friend. The boat ticked was reasonably priced and you can find one going often. The nature experience is amazing and amusing. A bit costly to get a meal, but worth it. Great and healpful staff.

If you can take the heat. There was nothing mind blowing, but if you are up for a walk around the island and maybe grab some food from the local bar, you will enjoy the piece in nature.

In case you've got young kids, some tips we didn't receive: 1. The walk from the closest taxi drop off to the pier is ten minutes (at parents pace) and v exposed to sun in mid morning 2. You buy tickets from the table set up on the pier, not the stalls/stands offering tours/packages 3. Back of the boat gets... More

A fifteen minute boat ride from the old port brings you to the island. It has an old fort, monastery and gardens, a couple of places to eat and drink, even massage. Lots of people go to swim off the rocks, there's also a nudist area. The island also has large amounts of rabbits and some large peacocks. A nice... More

There is going to be a game of thrones museum in the old monastery , will bring much needed investment to the area, which is good but don't overdevelop please or the island will be spoilt.

Very relaxed. Shaded walks with a decent restaurant and rocky bathing areas. This is an awesome place to go and have a chill day, jump off rocks into the Mediterranean and enjoy a good bite to eat.
