Lovely day out from the old town harbour to Lokrum. Beautiful woodland walks, old monastery, gardens and fort to walk up to. The fort walk was a bit of an effort on a steep path but lovely views. Lovely views and lots of peacocks that will steal your lunch if you are not careful!

This was so peaceful. We wandered through the old monastery ruins which were beautiful and also the Botanical Garden, and met several tame peacocks. The rabbits in the Garden allowed us to get really close, very unlike the rabbits in our own garden! We enjoyed a drink in a comfortable cafe before the boat took us back.

It's a 15 minute ferry ride from old port to Lokrum for about $10 round trip per person. Quick and easy ride there and back. Make sure you take good walking shoes if you plan to make the hike to the fort. Lots us uphill, some very rough path and some smooth paved. Lots of wild peacocks as well. Nice... More

So I did tours to several islands around Dubrovnik and this was my favorite. If you're looking for shopping and dining, it's not the place to go. (One cafe, one tiny shop.) But it is beautiful and filled with walking trails and fabulous sea views and views back to the old town. The monastery ruins are lovely and the Peacocks... More

Terrific way to spend an afternoon - we were there in April, so uncrowded except for myriad wild peacocks. Nice little coves to swim off - including one for nudists ONLY. Pretty indifferent cafe - take your own picnic. Wonderful views.... then a short boat ride back to Dubrovnik.Excellent.

The boat takes you there in about 10min. Enjoy the sun and take a dip in the lake or sea. If you want, you can also sunbathe here without swimming suit at one spot (FKK beach). Lots of wildlife in the island.

We spent a very quiet and relaxing day on this island last summer. The boat across was busy but when we got to the island everyone dispersed and you could easily find spots that were not crowded. We choice to spend most of the day by the 'lake' which was very refreshing. Tips: take something soft to lay on and... More

The boat from Dubrovnik harbour leaves on the hour from 10am and takes about 15 minutes to get to Lokrum island. Tips: Once off the boat there is a small cafe serving drinks, snacks and ice-cream. The only toilets are near the cafe. The path up to the fort is very steep and uneven - you must be fit and... More

There are boats that for a very modest sum (cheaper than the cable car) will take you out around the island and the city walls. It gives you a different perspective of the city. There is a crumbling fort at the top of the island and a monastery on its western side. You never know, a peacock might even wander... More

This is a lovely island fifteen minutes by ferry from Dubrovnik harbour. We only spent two hours on the island which was just about right for a cool April day but I could imagine spending the whole day here on a hot summer day. We walked around the southern part and visited the ruined monastery, botanical garden, lake and coastal... More
