We were lucky to have caught Lokrum on a sunny day. The short boat ride is great as you get to see the stunning landscape of Old Town and then the gorgeous island that is Lokrum as you approach its pier. We could see a number of people already swimming in the sea around the island, which had ladders on... More

Take a boat from the old harbour out to the island and wander round - be aware it is a bit of a climb to the fort but if you want to discover the island and meet the peacocks, sunbathe or swim, visit the botanical gardens, eat and drink allow yourself a minimum half day.

70kn each to travel to the island from the port next to the Ploce gate, the boats are frequent so just turn up. Once you get there the island is easy to navigate and well worth the trip. Be sure to take plenty of water and a picnic. Once you are there, follow the many trails through the peacock laden... More

We took a cheap regular ferry (every 30 minutes) from the old port and arrived on lokrum island within 15-20 minutes. Some history to the island is worth knowing but no longer inhabited and waiting for your visit. A fabulous retreat with space for all to have a quiet or noisy time according to your preference. Great warm salt pools,... More

Caught the ferry from the old town port to the island. As we disembarked we were greeted by a peacock in all its glory. As we wandered around we met lots of other peacocks, peahens and their chicks. Yomped up to the old fort, well worth it for the view. Wandered back to the harbour for a bit of snorkelling... More

Travelled via ferry from the Old Port with our two girls aged 9 and 6. There is very little to do on the island, other than walk around and have a dip in the "Deed Sea", a small inland lake (the chance to jump off the rocks adds a potential thrill for older kids). We had an okay meal at... More

We had 3 full days in Dubrovnik & wanted a day chilling, swimming & relaxing. Lokrum is so easy to get to - the official ferry departs every 1/2 hr from the Old Port (ignore the boat trips). Even though the ferry's packed, everyone quickly dispersed & you can choose to either wander round the island (we walked up to... More

Wild peacocks everywhere! This was definitely one the highlights of my trip. Would recommend to everyone. Also, take your swimsuit. You can go in the ocean (but be careful of very sharp rocks) but there is also a lost lagoon that is salt water but completely separate from the ocean. Was great for a swim.

This is a real escape from the Dubrovnik tourists and well worth a visit. There seem to be hoards of people going, but once you are there, you can be on your own. We walked the whole island and hardly saw a soul, other than the really accessible areas. Do swim in the "Dead Sea". It was lovely - crowded,... More
