Never seen anything like some of the huge yachts tied up at the new section of the Riva .. some nice waterside bars there too. Don't miss the plaques for Croatia's Olympians embedded in the walkway. The older Riva has huge palm trees, many food and drink spots, great people watching. The place to be every evening.

Not as charming as Old Split, but still a very pleasant walk up the Riva, which is built in a nice modern fashion (which feels a bit at odds with the rest of Split, unlike the waterfront outside the Diocletian's Palace, which although on the newer side itself fits in perfectly). Makes a nice change, and tends to be quiet... More

after touring Diocletian's palace and wandering through some of the streets surrounding the palace, I took a stroll down the promenade, sat here and just watched people pass.

nice to relax and to have a slowly walking tour up and down, not big, but not small either, just as it should be. If you want to feel local ambience, go there in early morning, when the sun is rising, or at sunset time. During the day it's crowded, but that's the season.

It was renovated couple years ago, it's so nice now, so urban, but yet so fits in the historical part of centre. Loved walking there during the evening, little too much of tourists for my taste, but it's the season like that, i shell visit it again during the autumn

Great place to go for a stroll, have a drink, or to enjoy the many activities during the evening. There are plenty of stals to buy souvenirs and snacks.

We enjoyed walking along the Riva Harbour and watching all the boats coming and going. The Riva really comes alive in the early evening when Split's residents and visitors emerge to enjoy strolling up and down, and enjoying a beer or an ice cream at the many cafes and stands on the sea front. There are people of all ages... More

This is a working harbour with fishermen and ferry traffic as well as a lot of tourist activity. There are even a couple of "submarines" that take tourists on "underwater" tours. We didn't go as there does not seem to be much to see.

When walking on Riva bit further to the west, we stummbeled upon an open-air photo exhibition of Croatian landmarks taken from air. It was put by National Geographic, and panels were accompanied by educational text touching upon each scene. It was lovely to see bits of other-than-Dalmatia Croatian regions.
