A gorgeous promenade where you can enjoy a stroll. Stop by one of the many cafes and enjoy a cold drink or ice cream.

The great atmosphere of Riva invites you to enjoy anytime of your day seeing a kind of movie scenario. People from everywhere walking, running and going for day excursion in different island. Cruises arriving and going bring thousand of tourist to visit Split, Diocletian's Palace among other interesting attraction. It amazing how time flies while having a drink in one... More

This is the area that one goes to be seen. Like much of western Europe, it seems that the promenade along the harbour is the place to dress and show yourself off, whilst being perused by the countless coffee drinkers soaking up the sunshine and the views (and not necessarily of the harbour). We found the harbour to be quite... More

This is a lovely area to stroll in the evening and people watch or enjoy the view of the boats in the harbour, ferries sailing back and forth to Brac, Hvar and the other islands. The big screen set up at the far end of the harbour was a memorable place to watch the world cup semi finals!

Great place for a walk after dinner, to people watch, enjoy an ice cream, crepes or a cup of doughnut holes. The Riva is lined with restaurants, mediocre food and high prices, but fine for a drink or dessert.

Late summer evenings, just after dinner, no place to go? In Split, locals always start with Riva. Especially, during summer. On one end, you can found that some of the cafes are becoming 'night clubs', on the other end, locals gather on the long pier - drinking, chatting, socializing, having fun...In between, lot of cafes, banks, entrance of Diocletian palace,... What a fun place to hang out. The water is always a beautiful shade of blue. The people are always smiling and fun to watch. There are tons of happy, well-behaved dogs trotting alongside their masters. A perfect way to enjoy a morning coffee, afternoon downtime, evening meal or walk,or after dinner drink in one of the many cafes.

It was interesting to witness such a stark mix of old & new with the very nicely done Riva fronting Diocletian's Palace and the rest of Old Split. It's nicely done and filled with vibrant, if impersonal, cafes.

Great spot to just relax. All the cafes have the same things - a few have food but mostly just drink places. The waiters don't mind if you stay for a long time. Can also sit on the benches or along the water. Nice spot to watch people at any time of day - always people there and things going... More

Lots of lovely bars and places to wile away the evening. The general service over the week was variable at the many bars - sometimes waiting a bit too long to be served. These things sometimes cannot be rushed and had to just go with the flow.....when in Rome (sorry Croatia!). We were lucky to be around for national feast... More
