During the day complete mayhem as boats of all sizes from ferries to pleasure craft vie for space, At night a much more tranquil place with the street and harbour lights making it much more romantic. Lots of bars/restraunts and ice cream parlours. Part of the must do night time walk along the sea front and botanical garden.

Split harbour is nice but not like the port in the center Dubronvik. It is definetely due to big ferries...they do not look cute 😉. If you go to old Split which is just few minutes walk from port&bus station, you will also find hidden mistery, fairtale old town like Dubronvik even it is a bit smaller...If you travel by... More

People watching, nature watching, drinking, music, just plain enjoying life in the company of fellow humans - locals and tourists alike.

A very busy harbour, interesting to just sit and watch all the boats. Ferries and bus station close by. The main Riva runs along here, with many restaurants and cafes. Really cool place.

The Riva is an integral part of any trip to Split. The harborside views are beautiful, but yes, the (natural) sulfur smell can be an issue if you're sitting there for any length of time. Definitely packed on a Saturday night in the summer -- not much chance of a leisurely stroll!

Loved this place and in fact spent some time there each of the three days I was in Split. It's a great place for people watching and there is no pressure to move on, even when busy. An abundance of flavoured ice creams and tasty sandwiches/wraps can be obtained at the counter and drinks are waiter serviced. Really reasonably priced... More

You can not come to Split even for a day, and not to come to Riva and drink coffee, or just sit for a bit and watch the world go by :)

You could be forgiven for being on any number of mediterranean sea fronts, but there is something more relaxed about this one, and that's Split in a nutshell. Hectic if you want it or equally relaxed. Watch people, boats sea planes and the odd yellow submarine!

Main hub of Split. Plenty of guides offering boat tours. Lots of restaurants and the British Consulate General is located there. Best ice cream ever available.

You can go near the water and enjoy the yachts, a bit more inland and enjoy the gardens, or even more inland and walk near small shops and restaurants, or even take the walk between the restaurants and the buildings (this one makes sure you do not miss the Tourism office!). If you stay 3 nights, you can get a... More
