I can see why was it pronounced one of 10 most beautiful islands in the world. No 1 attraction is definitely town Hvar, but if you can spear few days, stay in town Hvar rent a scooter or a car and go around the island, you will see why! Beautiful scenery of untouched nature everywhere!

We loved the Island, although it is a bit crowded, it's certainly worth visiting. You have a lot really good restaurants to choose from. If you are looking for the place for swimming, you will need to go a bit out of the centre.

Hvar has it all: brilliant nightlife, a charming old village, beaches and nature, the beautiful coast line.

My favourite bits of this quite large island were Hvar Town , possibly the finest small town I have seen in the Med/Adriatic, quiet and small Zavala on the south coast and Stari Grad.We stayed 5 nights in a delightful old cottage on the shores of Zavala village, with virtually our own 'private' shingle beach. Off- season, this area is a... More

We stayed in Hvar island in October and I suppose is a lot quieter then in high season (july and august). The architecture is nice as well as the sea

We stayed here 2 nights and loved it. We were travelling in October, so not peak season. I wouldn't have chosen to go there in the high season as it is known as the 'party' island. We loved it. Great restaurants, nice to just wander along the fore shores. We did a trip into the interior and although not lavender... More

The Island is idyllic, clean, quaint, picturesque, great places to eat, drink, walk, swim, in fact everything is there.

We travelled to Hvar - my husband, 16 year old daughter and her 2 friends (both 17) - from Split via catamaran. Getting to the port from the airport is straightforward as there are regular buses. We planned ahead and arranged transfers via a tourist office in Split. What a place - particularly Jelsa where we stayed in one of... More

We sailed there on a 44 foot yacht. Was a longish sail. Anchored in a bay near the harbour. Hvar is a very pretty little town but also modern and busy. Lots of facilities but hard to get an anchorage in the harbour. The other islands are quieter (like Vis etc) but Hvar certainly attracts a lot of people in... More
