Walk out to the Odessa Hotel (and look at the little seafarers' church there) and look at the working port - cargo, passengers, Volga ... and cranes moving 24 hours a day. Now think back to London 1890 and (minus the sails) you see the same industry ... Pretty? No. Fascinating? Yes
