Frames the view of the historical city street, filled with markets, people and bustling activity. On the way to the Church of the Merced. Beautiful at night, all lit up.

We stayed at a hotel very close, so this arch was our compass to get home. It's easily seen from several blocks away. One day, we met the American architect who is restoring the house on the right side (facing the Merced Church.) Since it is a UNESCO site, he has to follow some strict guidelines. The buildings on both... More

You can't come to Antigua w/o coming to the arc and talking pics - it's the official landmark of Antigua! The Merced is super close to here and there are 2 parks clode by as well that have street food you can buy. There is also the Casbah club super close by, a mercado is close and there are stores... The arch is a nice photo opportunity, but that's pretty much all it is. So take a few photos, enjoy them, and move on to the next spot.

This is one of those photo op stops. When walking down the street you can get a great view of the volcano and this great arch built between buildings some 250 years ago - it's withstood several earthquakes and looks so perfect. I understood that it was originally to all the cloistered nuns to go from one of their buildings... More

Be careful you might miss this fantastic restaurant if you're not paying attention. It actually sits behind a hotel lobby in a beautiful courtyard with live music and delicious smells coming from the kitchen and fresh tortillas being made in the lower courtyard. The prices are great too.

Located inside the hotel, overlooking the courtyard is this restaurant that is easy to miss....Que lastima....what a pity! Grace is the new manager & she works very hard to make sure you have a very good experience. They have a full service bar & serve breakfast, lunch & dinner. A sleeper on the breakfast menu is yogurt with granola &... More

I live in Antigua part of the year, the rest I live it abroad. Every time I visit "el Arco," I am always struck by how well built it is, and just how beautiful the whole scene is. The cobbled street where the Arco sits is flanked on one side by some fantastic restaurants, including Fridas, traditional markets, and shops,... More
