Visiting the Pacays Volcano was amazing, the views and grandeur, as well as destruction. Another traveler and I took a horse, Herve the guide and Chalupa the horse, provided much information about the areas so the time (1.5 hour) went rapidly. Herve had knowledge of local botany so as we walked would explain foliage, I tried smelled bay leaf just... More

The views were fogged in, but the guides made it fun and entertaining anyway. I opted for a horse, Pancho, and he did well. You get to roast marshmellows in a steam vent. It was the highlight of the trip for me. More

I think that back in 2009 or 2010 this would have been a fantastic place to go, with red lava running down the volcano. BEWARE - ALL of the photos in the travel agencies show photos from 2009/2010! however, now there is not really much to see. Clearly I knew that there was no molten lava before I went up,... More

We took a moto tour to the base of the path but you can take a collectivo. We paid 50q each as a park entry fee. The path itself was steep and we definitely broke a sweat but if you take it at your own pace it's very achievable (coming from someone who has otherwise lay in a hammock for... More

We came to Antiqua at moon and decided to go for Pacaya hiking the same day. Some agencies were not able to offer us anyzhing for the same afternoon but rainbow did. Eventhough the guide was suppoded to speak only spanish, he smoke pretty well english. The hike was quite easy, we were up in 1 hour. The weather should... More

After the annoying kids have finally left you to enjoy the day, the hike is a good one. The actual volcano is 1 km from the end of the hike and you're not allowed any further, so you must be content with a couple of warm vents and views. More

This was a great value excursion for $10 each, you get some great views from near the top and even though we weren't allowed to climb to the crater due to recent activity, you could still roast marshmallows and hike over the lava fields. It was fine to do with our 1 year old son and not too strenuous. I... More

It's a nice walk, a shame that there was no one selling water on the top of the volcano. Beautiful view. More
