There are a lot of sites like this. A church is a church is a church? It was nice, but nothing outstanding to me. Perhaps I missed something. We paid 5Q to meander through the ruins of the facility. Got some great photos but I understand there are much better, dramatic ruins nearby. Not sure how we missed them. More

This hotel is home. The very accommodating staff, Jorge and Jimmy, make this such a pleasant oasis. The owners, Gerlinde and Fernando, offer assistance with activities and information that truly seem as though you have joined a gracious family. The rooms are pleasant and well kept. The noise of other rooms and outside are evident so if you are a... More

Less chaotic and crowded, and only one guy pestering me about a shoe-shine. It's a great place to just stop and watch: the schoolkids goofing and flirting around with each other, the people arriving for services or events in La Merced, the interesting traffic on Calle 1 (2 guys on bikes running their pitbulls like sled dogs!). I love Antigua and the market is a place not to be missed. It is full of interesting stalls and vendors and is close to the city centre ( which itself is not that huge as you can basically see all the major sites within a three hour walk around the main sites. I would also strongly recommend the textile... More

La Merced has beautiful architecture and the plaza has a good variety of street food vendors. It is well worth a visit when in Antigua. More

Beautiful church and crazy carnival-style market place on Holy Thurs/Good Friday. We saw the 4 AM procession from here and were amazed at the level of activity in the wee hours. More

Great architecture. The fountain in the back is worth the visit, especially if you have some time to simply sit on the second story and chill out. More
