Most Central America towns have a central Park. Antigua has done it in style, lots off siting space and friendly locals to chat with. Walking a block away can save you 50% on a cappuccino to go.

Really get a sense of community while visiting the park. Teeming with locals with sometime pushy vendors, but worth the time--fountains, plants, etc.

One cannot visit Antigua without strolling through "El Parque" and enjoying the ambiance, the crowds on the weekends, and the rows of shops that flank its perimeter. It provides tourists with a look at the central Cathedral of the city, the Government buildings including the city's municipality, as well as several cafés, restaurants, creperies, shops, and bakeries. Sitting in the... More

stunning setting with all the glorious old buildings surrounding this lovely central garden area, even with the wonderful fountain spouting water from the breasts of maidens! You can relax, shop and just watch people here all day...perfect for young lovers to meet, just chill and hang out! The purple flowering Jacaranda trees are the best part of the whole square!... government buildings line the central park. Great shops and restaurants to sip coffee or beer and watch life stroll by.

If you enjoy people watching, you'll enjoy the Parque Central. It takes you back to customs of yesteryear as you'l watch many of the locals walk around the park with their families and significant others. The only thing that can get on your nerves are the vendors, continuously begging you purchase their goods. You can, however, get good bargains (5Q... More

The parque central is leafy and picturesque and the activities present change during the day. Early morning, e.g.,the vendors and guides gather to chat among themselves and show their wares. During the day, vendors and visitors drift in and out, musicians stage a mini-concert; mimes stand in protest of whatever, kids try to sell you stuff, you meet friends. It's... More

So the person before me thinks it's nothing special ? Really ???? It's THE most beautiful parque central in all Guatemala, especially atmosphere- and people-wise. People selling their wears ? Well, if you tbother to take the time to actually talk to these lovely women, you'd make some friends... I've been to many cities and villages in Guate, but none... More

The parque central, with the cathedral on one side, commercial opposite, national government buildings to the north, and the local government building (under reconstruction) to the south is the way ALL the towns built by the colonial Spanish during the 16th and 17th centuries ... is a marvelous place for people watching. Several very nice restaurants and banks also flank... More

Crazy. Lots of people, lots of shops, lots of architecture and history.Shopping is a art down in Guatemala, you have to be able to walk out the door! If they start at 100 Q's, the price will end up about 1/2 of that but only if you are able to walk out the door! They will follow you out, lowering... More
