Cooking class is more than food, the experience is history, language and feeling. This class offers it all. The class is held in a small kitchen in the back of the restaurant. Our class instructor was Guatemalan and the owner was our translator. Three of us from a group took the class, with varying levels of cooking experience and we... More

I signed up for this class by simply by emailing the cooking school. They responded promptly and sent me a menu off of which I could choose two sides, a main dish, and a dessert to prepare during the class. (Try the rellenitos for dessert. They are amazing!). The school is in the back of a restaurant located near the... More

I've attended many international cooking schools and El Frijol Feliz me asures up. Libia's low key approach to her traditional cuisine allowed me to participate in a way that embedded the dishes into my memory. I cant wait to get home and host a dinner of Delicious Guatemalan dishes! The kitchen is very basic provino it doesnt take the latest... More

I take cooking classes everywhere I travel. I took 2 cooking classes at El Frijol Feliz last week, one was about different salsas and the other was a Guatemalan menu that I was able to choose ahead of time. I made my reservation last December online. All the communication with through emails, it was very professional and accommodating. Classes are... More

It is hard to find a cooking school in Antigua. There were 2 choices, one across town was essentially a bicycle rental/bar/giftshop/cookingclass that looked really unprofessional. However El Frijol Feliz school had everything that was needed...a quiet clean professional kitchen, friendly atmosphere plus a local chef experienced in Guatemalan cuisine and, for me, an English translator. I was given a... More

I'm really glad I came across El Frijol Feliz in my guidebook. My parents and I took the tour of the market and then had lunch and cooking class. Our guide, Luis, was a delight and spoke English beautifully. He bought us several varieties of fruit that we hadn't seen or tasted before for us to try, and he was... More

My girlfriend (now fiancee) organised this cookery class for my birthday and it couldn't have been better. All the staff were exceptional, friendly, fun and bent over backwards to make it special. We made some amazing Guatemalan dishes, and ended up with so much food we gladly shared it with the staff. They were very generous with the wine and... More

Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed the morning of cooking with Luis and Labi. It was very hands-on, with each of us chopping and preparing the food. Great conversation and camaraderie! Once the cooking was done, we sat down with Luis on the patio to enjoy the delicious food. It was definitely one of our favorite activities in Antigua. More

My boyfriend and I did the cooking class in December 2011. We LOVED it. It was one of the highlights of our experience in Antigua. We were in a class with three other people which was the perfect amount. The experience was well worth the money. It was easily the best meal we had in Guatemala (the tortitas de papa... More

I did a cooking class with Luis and Lavi. Lavi was the cook and only spoke spanish so Luis translated. It was great! Luis talked with me ahead of time to find out what I wanted to learn how to cook. It was hands on and the recipes were sent to my home e-mail address so now I have them... More
