My wife was asked to officiate at a wedding recently held in this historic church. The setting, inside and out, is beautiful in every way. While the people obviously make a wedding great, the sanctuary here contributes enormously. However, what separates this church from others is an accessible tower from which one can see a 360 degree vista of Nantucket... More

This is one of few historic church steeples that is still be open to the public. Despite being an occasional tower volunteer and a member of the First Congregational Church, climbing our tower to take in the 360 degree view never gets old. When I volunteer either in the lobby or up in the tower, I enjoy meeting folks from... More

We attended a wedding yesterday at the church. It sits on a bluff above the main downtown Nantucket. It has a white fence and archway, and then a brick walkway to the front door above. Inside it is bright, with clear glass and white pew boxes with wood trim. It is very large, but the configuration works for smaller weddings... More

We decided to go to the church as recommended by our tour guide. When we arrived there we found it locked. When we went around the back there were people practicing so they let us in the church. It was beautiful. Unfortunately we weren't able to go up to the tower where we are told you can see almost the... More

92 steps up to the observation area of this lovely church tower. Spectacular views to the north, south, east and west -- and they provide binoculars, too.Fascinating to see evidence of I-beams shoring up the structure as we climbed. Cannot even imagine how it was built in the first place.

For a nominal contrubution to the church you can climb the 150+ steps to the top of the tower and be greated with a 360* view so bring your camera! There is a resting place on the climb up, well worth the trip. Also early July they celebrate Rose Sunday, decorating the church with Roses, truely a joy to see!

Beautiful church with a bunch of history. Very nice staff, and totally worth the climb for the view of the town. A must. Do it!

Minister, Gary was wonderful and kind. We had a wedding there, and I was a reader. He let me rehearse, and complimented me that I did a great job!

I believe we climbed 92 steps to the top. There was a lady who welcomed us and a man who was at the top to give us some history and explain the exceptional view we were seeing.

Any church with a website that says "Come as you are," and shows a pair of sandy feet just has to be great, no matter your religious affiliation or lack thereof. That's me in the latter, but this church, an iconic island structure with its towering white spire, really appeals to everyone, in architecture, history and beliefs. We were there... More
