Somewhere along the line in our travels around the Island of Nantucket, we were told we should check out the First Congregational Church and Old North Vestry. Were we glad we did! The building itself and the grounds were beautiful. For a nominal donation ($5), we walked around both the new church and the old one and then climbed to... More

First Congregational Church, dates back to the early 1700s. Located in the heart of downtown, FCC's historic bell tower is open to the public Mon-Sat, 10-4, & offers stunning views of the island.

While the old and new sanctuaries are beautiful places of worship in their simplicity, the 95 steps up to the steeple is a must for photographers seeking to get great views of Nantucket's landscape and harbor below.

A beautiful church side and out. I am handicapped but I made it to the top of the steeple okay (with a few rests along the way). Great view and there was a docent to tell you what we were seeing.

No matter what your religious background, this 1834 Congregational Church built by local whaling captains captures the beauty of New England architecture and the "feel" of the whaling era ! In season, tours to the top of the tower provide a magnificent view !

Wonderful, friendly parishioners welcome you to their appealing church in the center of Nantucket town, the island is named Nantucket too…climb to the top of the steeple, not for folks who are out of shape though. The price is right, they request a small donation if satisfied, the view of Nantucket Bay and town are well worth the $5. which... More

My son was just married at this church. We had over 200 guests come and everyone was very comfortable. It is a beautiful old church!! Climb up the steeple and have the best view of Nantucket!!

The church itself is lovely but the reason to come here is the view from the steeple. Nice educational features on the climb up.

The view is absolutely amazing. I visit the island every year and I never miss the chance to climb to the top of the church to overlook Nantucket. It's breathtakingly beautiful!

The First Congregational Church on Nantucket was established in 1711. The bell tower provides an iconic image of Nantucket and the sound. Take the time to climb to the top and your efforts will be rewarded!
