I was in Nuuk on business and had a chance to check out the cultural center. It really was a lovely and unexpected building. The food was good, as well.

Fish of day excellent value, had it twice during my little more than one week stay in Nuuk. Also, look out for local cultural events. Went to a concert and there would have been another one during my stay.

Katuaq Cultural Centre is an easy 5 minute walk from the Hotel Hans Egede, as a point of reference. It houses the local movie theater, several artistic exhibitions (during my visit) and the wonderful Cafe Tuap, a delightful place to eat fresh Greenlandic & Scandinavian dishes. The architecture of the building itself is beautiful, and it's a great place for... More

Great architecture; very good programming; great exhibits in the hall, not to be missed: painting on the wall facing the restaurant.

This is quite an inspiring place to visit, with its unique architecture and interesting exhibitions/activities. It symbolises all that is good about modern Greenland. The Cafe Tuap is worth a visit itself, indeed multiple visits, as this was the best coffee I found in this part of the world!

Katuaq Cultural Centre is worth a visit if you want to see an example of 1990's Danish architecture (competition 1st prize from Danish 'Schmidt, Hammer & Lassen'). The wavy facade was NOT inspired by the ocean, but by the northern lights (probably since the absurd water symbolism was already at work in the horrible roof design for Nuuk public swimming... More

Great food for lunch, including Greenlandic meats. Great coffee. Interesting art exhibitions by Greenlandic artists and photographers. If there for several days, newest movies are shown in the 3D movie teatre.
