With a good negociacion you can come to the lake for 8 euros by taxi. It's about a half hour drive. At first you will see only the dam, which is not very special, but then you come to a part with a restaurant and a pedestrians path of 6km. It is also possible to do a boat tour, which... More

Saw that there were more activities during the summer, kayaking and rock climbing. still awesome to visit during winter! really really breathtaking views. tip to follow a footpath which leads to (I'm not sure where).. we didn't have time but the path was well guarded by a rope, allocate 2-3 hours. saw teens and families walking the path, further down... We enjoyed fabulous scene & good vine at Matka Kanyon. We did not take a boat to the end (which I would do next time) but we walked nearby the lake and it was still very amazing.

The lake is beautiful. Wonderful and peaceful nature. If you go to Skopje you must visit the lake. Just take the bus (most of the times for free) and go there. Also take a boat to go to the caves.

This is a great value, very easy to access attraction. It's a very easy bus ride (that cost about €0.50) and an enjoyable €6 boat ride. The cave is very cool to see. I would rate this 2 of 2 'must sees' in Skopje.

One of the most amazing sites I have ever had the privelege too see. Best time to visit in the summer. Thank you to the Albanian tour guide Sadic for his excellent commentary, his vast knowledge of Matka and the caves is incredible. Only downsides was the hassle to get their with the construction, the signage could be better developed.... More

This only costs 35 denar (about .50 euro) to get there, and you can walk the path in the mountain, or rent kayaks for 300 denar an hour, or get them to take you in a boat to a cave for 400 denar. You have to do this. The canyon is unreal. I would rate this as the number 2... More

It was in November and it was a bit cold but it is very nice to leave you car a little bit away so that you can walk to the nice restaurant over there.
