This memorial is right in the heart of the historic buildings, and it will take you only five minutes or so to see it, but you really should go. I found the memorial to be very moving. It gave me a moment to reflect on how much Thurgood Marshall did for this country.

It's free and very informative. Great views & history. The statues are really well done. It's a great place to take pictures and enjoy a crepe from Sofi's!

We stumbled upon this walking from the parking deck at Calvert & Bladen toward the statehouse. There are multiple sculptures in a circle, It's hard to read the text engraved in the granite on the benches with two of the sculptures and in the circle in front of the standing statue (in fact, we almost didn't see them at all... Actually happened across the memorial by chance, and glad we did! It is a beautiful memorial to United States Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, based on his work as an attorney, seeking to desegregate the University of Maryland School of Law. The Memorial is on the mall, across from the state capital and next to the governor's mansion. A bronze... More

It is located next to the State Capitol. It is almost lifelike. I am sure Justice Marshall would be pleased. Make sure you have your camera

Located just outside the main entrance to the MD State House, this little gem of history educates and causes one to think about this great man. It didn't hurt that the trees were in beautiful bloom and the State House provides an awesome view. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this gem.

this champion of civil rights should evoke in every American a deep reflection of our ill treatment of "people of color" throughout our history even into the present day and their accomplishments and contributions that have helped shape our society and improve our lives

An amazing man in his proper place of honor as an historic Marylander - right at the steps of the State House. Poignant sculptures make the point of his rising up through and above the times he lived in.
