Near the Government House there is a small plaza dedicated to Thurgood Marshall, the late Supreme Court Justice and great civil rights lawyer. The statute is of a young Marshall, behind his statute are pillars with the inscription "Equal Justice Under Law," and facing the statute are two benches. On one bench are statutes of two children.

This is a quiet plaza outside the Annapolis State House, at the gateway to the historic part of the city. There is a great memorial to Rhurgood Marshall, Supeeme Court Justice and statesman. It's important to stop and take account of his contributions while exploring this beautiful area.

Great little park like setting with neat statues of a young Thurgood Marshall walking and some kids sitting on a bench looking at him.

Our walking tour guide mentioned that this area is where lawyers and politician met to discuss cases and bills. I took pic to share with students as Thurgood Marshall is an historic person we study for Virginia Standards of Learning.

I love that there is a statue to Justice Marshall right by the state government buildings. The park is built into the ground, and is accessible by stairs and brick ramps. All around you are beautiful quotes. And his statue is beautiful. I'm glad we celebrate him here.

This memorial is right in the heart of the historic buildings, and it will take you only five minutes or so to see it, but you really should go. I found the memorial to be very moving. It gave me a moment to reflect on how much Thurgood Marshall did for this country.

It's free and very informative. Great views & history. The statues are really well done. It's a great place to take pictures and enjoy a crepe from Sofi's!

We stumbled upon this walking from the parking deck at Calvert & Bladen toward the statehouse. There are multiple sculptures in a circle, It's hard to read the text engraved in the granite on the benches with two of the sculptures and in the circle in front of the standing statue (in fact, we almost didn't see them at all... Actually happened across the memorial by chance, and glad we did! It is a beautiful memorial to United States Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, based on his work as an attorney, seeking to desegregate the University of Maryland School of Law. The Memorial is on the mall, across from the state capital and next to the governor's mansion. A bronze... More
