Great zoo

So much larger than back in the 60's. They added Safari train also. A lot more animals. Fully gated around the whole perimeter of the park. Great.

I was very impressed that a town the size of Alexandria has such a great zoo. Also featured on Ghost Hunters!

This zoo surprised me. Given the fact that it was in Alexandria, Louisiana and how rundown the surrounding area was, I didn't expect much. When I saw that admission was only $7.50 for adults, I thought I'd in and out within an hour. I was wrong. The zoo is small, yes, and it would be nice if the enclosures for... More

This was a wonderful zoo filled with many animals that I never knew exited! An example of this would be the white tailed eagle, but there were more! The zoo has ample shade and boardwalks. The train is great for adults and kids. We did not eat there, but be sure to purchase water from the gift shop to avoid... More

We have held a membership for several years (very inexpensive!) and are keeping it even after moving to Shreveport. It is a fun, accessible zoo with a pleasant atmosphere. Downsides: even with a lot of shade, it gets hot in the summer because no breeze makes it through the trees. Also, weekends in spring and fall get very crowded.

If you are in the Central Louisiana area and like to visit local zoos then this is one for you. I volunteered at this zoo when I was in high school about 13 years ago and my family still lives in that area. I recently had a chance to go back down there and really enjoyed seeing that a lot... More

Alexandria is very fortunate to have a zoo which is acredited. They are constantly updating the facility and adding new exhibits and animals. They are very engaged with the community. It is well laid out and everything is very well labeled and expalined. The traib trolly is lots of fun too!

No Giraffes but thats okay the rest of the Zoo animals more than made up for them. Nice Zoo to get away for the day. The one thing I noticed was a little odd was the parking. It's laid out to where people just find a place ram their vehicle over a curb and onto grass. We found additional parking... More

Awesome little zoo to visit. I have been to much larger ones and there is no comparison, but this zoo is still entertaining. All the animals look healthy and their enviroment is very clean. I am an animal lover and I can tell there is a lot of love In this zoo. There is even small resting areas to enjoy... More

This is a small zoo, but well layed out. We went on a Friday morning with light rain falling, so there were few visitors. The rain also led to fewer animals being out and visible, but the animals we did see seemed happy and well cared for which is always a good sign. We were not looking to buy refreshments,... More
