Great exhibits for the kids. Have places for picnic lunches. Staff was extremely helpful. No big animals but a lot of animals for the size of the zoo. Would go back the next time we travel to LA.

The zoo does not seem to be well kept for me. I've been to better zoos. There was only one snack bar and it took forever just to order beverages.

My family has been here many times, and it has always been a nice experience. For such a small city, the zoo is top notch. Well kept, very clean, lots of animals to see. The train is nice. You don't see much on the train but it is fairly cheap, you don't wait long for it, and the kids love... More

I love the size of this Zoo. It is just right for an hour or two with my 4 kids. We like to come throughout the year. There are many animals to see. Lots of birds, Lions, tigers, leopards, bears, flamingos, and Anteaters(my favorite). We like it here and with a pass for $35/year for military families you can't beat... More

So much larger than back in the 60's. They added Safari train also. A lot more animals. Fully gated around the whole perimeter of the park. Great.

I was very impressed that a town the size of Alexandria has such a great zoo. Also featured on Ghost Hunters!

This zoo surprised me. Given the fact that it was in Alexandria, Louisiana and how rundown the surrounding area was, I didn't expect much. When I saw that admission was only $7.50 for adults, I thought I'd in and out within an hour. I was wrong. The zoo is small, yes, and it would be nice if the enclosures for... More

This was a wonderful zoo filled with many animals that I never knew exited! An example of this would be the white tailed eagle, but there were more! The zoo has ample shade and boardwalks. The train is great for adults and kids. We did not eat there, but be sure to purchase water from the gift shop to avoid... More

We have held a membership for several years (very inexpensive!) and are keeping it even after moving to Shreveport. It is a fun, accessible zoo with a pleasant atmosphere. Downsides: even with a lot of shade, it gets hot in the summer because no breeze makes it through the trees. Also, weekends in spring and fall get very crowded.
