Founded in 1986, Abita was the first craft brewery to open in the Southeast. Today, we produce 160,000 barrels of beer annually in a range of great tasting, unpretentious styles including Abita Amber, Purple Haze, and Wrought Iron IPA. Located just north of New Orleans, we recently completed a three-year, $30 million state-of-the-art expansion of the brewery that will increase our capacity to 400,000 barrels while introducing groundbreaking environmental advancements to the brewing process.

This tour cost $5.00 and they give you a short tour, mostly tanks. They show how the beer is processed. You also get plenty of free samples and they explain the different types of beers. The facility is very clean. Worth doing if you're in the area, we combined it with a great swamp tour nearby.

This is a great place to visit with friends or guests from out of town or just to stop by on a Friday afternoon for a sampling of what's on tap. The Abita Brewery is just off the Tammy Trace, an easy bike ride from Abita or Covington. You can drive and park, quaint French Quarter Facade to building, gift... More

All you they take you to see if a lot of tanks. The only exciting part the bottling, you don't have access to. Abita it simple, partition off an area like other factories do, separated by glass. The tour guide would speak near a speaker so you could hear him then walk 20 yards away from the speaker and speak... More

We took the $5 brewery tour as we've done once before. It seemed more extensive than we remembered, very interesting but hard to hear the tour guide in the brewing areas downstairs. Afterwards we looked thru the gift shop and used our "doubloons" for 4 4 oz beers each. A fun afternoon. All the employees are fun to talk to... More

My wife fell in love with Abita years ago and it took awhile for it to make it to Pittsburgh area. I'm a wine drinker but visiting NOLA area so had to check it out for her. The tour was fun with tasting after. Nice people, good beer and got us over chance to drive over the Causeway.

Loved this brewery tour. In area for work. Plenty of free parking. Floor is wet with beer at parts of the tour, and you have to step over equipment here and there, so skip the high heels and wear footwear that can handle this. Have been on other brewery tours, but they are not all as generous with the samples... More

When I came to New Orleans the only thing I had for sure on my todo list was a visit to Abita. I'm a beer guy and I love to visit breweries while I travel. I didn't know what to expect at Abita, other than some tasty beer. I was surprised and impressed to learn that the brewery had just... More

We were surprised they were open on January 1, but bought tour tickets in advance and learned how they make beer in Abita Springs. However, they only brew Monday through Wednesday, so if you want to see them in action, you have to go on one of those three days. And, unlike a brewery I toured in Germany, they won't... More

We toured this brewery on Christmas Eve last year and really enjoyed it. There were about 15 of us and although the tour did not take very long, it was interesting and fun. The tasting room at the end was pretty neat, we go to sample several types of beer and even root beer, which was very good! This brewery... More

I enjoyed the tour, however the process is so automated, that you can't really "see" what's going on. The tour guides were very friendly and informative and it's interesting how environmentally proactive the Abita Brewery is. It was the end of the tour that I truly enjoyed. I love beer. Abita brews some interesting, creative, flavorful, aromatic and thoroughly enjoyable... More
