Founded in 1986, Abita was the first craft brewery to open in the Southeast. Today, we produce 160,000 barrels of beer annually in a range of great tasting, unpretentious styles including Abita Amber, Purple Haze, and Wrought Iron IPA. Located just north of New Orleans, we recently completed a three-year, $30 million state-of-the-art expansion of the brewery that will increase our capacity to 400,000 barrels while introducing groundbreaking environmental advancements to the brewing process.

Abita just opened a new facility and it is gorgeous. Very nice retail space, huge bar with tons of beers on tap, really nice beer garden. Unfortunately in my opinion most of their beers try too hard...where flavors should be subtle theirs hit you over the head. We tried a flight and found the only beer we could really drink... More

The new tap room at Abita Brewery is fantastic. We have gone a few times from the 'beginning' when it started out as a small 'break' room with a few taps. Now they have constructed a beautiful facility. The tours are quite organized - and generous! They basically give you an empty cup and you fill your own glass as... More

I was in the area to see the Mystery House Museum and thought I would combine it with a tour of Abita Brewing. What a delight. The facility has expanded recently and most of what I saw was shiny and new. Admission was free and included 4 doubloons to be exchanged for 4 ounce beer samples. There is also a... More

Very nice place. A real treat for beer lovers. Several tours on Sat and Sun. Nice free tastings ( but I'm told that will change soon to $5 - includes tour and 4 tastings). Short trip over from New Orleans.

After visiting New Orleans we drove north to the Abita Brewery for the free tour and taste testing. Thinking we would do a tour and be able to taste a few new beers we were in for a pleasant surprise. Jennifer told us how to pour a perfect glass of beer from the tap which we then each did (beer... We were on our way to New Orleans and decided to detour and visit Abita Brewing. Good call! I have never been to a brewery with a tasting room that was free. They have a bar with ten or twelve taps behind it and when you are ready, you help yourself. I have always been a fan of Abita but... More

Abita Brewery let's you sample their many offerings. There is a short tour covering their brewing area. If you wear open-toed shoes be prepared to pick up a pair of their plastic booties. The beer is COLD and the staff very nice!

We randomly came upon the brewery from a sign on the highway... Just to find out that they were closing in about 10 minutes. Yea, we were those people that show up right when you are trying to close. The staff was so friendly. Asking where we came from and when they found out it was far they were as... More
