This interpretive display includes some history and description of the canal and how it was constructed. The short movie is worth seeing . The viewing area allows a close up lock at the ships passing through the locks. Current entrance fee is $18 per adult for non Panamanians.

Dear Sirs, You should be ashamed of the staff you have working in the Miraflores Locks and Museum. This morning, I was terribly offended by a PRATICANTE whose name is Alejandra and a tour guide by Tucan tours who intended to be the general manager of the whole Miraflores Locks and Museum and he called a guard! I asked to... More

We paid $15 for a taxi from El Cangrejo area in Panama city to the locks. Best to in the afternoon 2+ when ships go through the locks (they also go through the early am as well, check for time recommendations if you go then). The film they present was pretty basic and at times confusing (also politically sanitized)... left... More

Great place to take pictures. Panamanians enter free showing ID, and foreigners has to pay, but it is a great place to visit. Great spot for pictures.

You are there at the lock as ships go throught the lock. It is a long ride from the city. the resturant was closed nothing nearby. takes two hours go through. We took the transient canal through another tour but this gave us a good explanation

I live in Panama and always take my visitor's to Miraflores Visitor's Center which has a four story museum telling the history and present operations of the Canal. There is a restaurant with a balcony for watching the ships entering and leaving the locks. If you have only one day be sure an include this on your itinerary. The restaurant... More

This was my second trip, it is always amazing to me to try and figure out how these people a decade ago, did this. Mind boggling.

Take the time and spend the time...history of the locks is unveiled here. Do not skip on any part of the tour it is well worth it. To think what was built long before computers and calculators is amazing. They even have actual videos of the locks being constructed and how it was done from 1904!!!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't balk at the $15.00 entry fee to enter the viewing area. There is no way you can fully appreciate this engineering marvel without entering and spending a few hours (2-3). Not only do you get a bird's eye view of the canal and locks, but you also get a guide who describes what is happening in... More

If you have seen enough ships and locks in your life, these locks aren't that special. OK... it's the Panama Canal. But otherwise... And 15 dollar p.p. is not cheap. I would advice to make a boat tour that takes you over part of the canal, the lake and into the surrounding rain forest. If you are visiting the locks... More
