We visited the Miraflores Locks visitor center as part of a one day tour land based tour. The visitor center is a must see part of the Panama Canal if you want quick understanding of the history of this engineering marvel. Unless your tour stops here, you are missing a lot of great information.

Really worth the visit. The view of the Canal is amazing how the ships cross through the passage way, Being carried up and down with water in just minutes. The museum and 3D theater really help you get to know the history of the Panama Canal.

Nice experience, but crowded. Make sure you get there early to have a chance to see everything. They close at 5 pm on the dot and ask you to leave

This would have been rated higher except for the extremely overpriced buffet in the restaurant and the 3D movie. The movie was more about Panamanian nationalism than the Panama Canal. The rest of the visitor center was excellent.

The movie (shown in English and in Spanish) with 3D glasses was OK, but the museum is well done, and not to be missed. There are several levels with outdoor decks for a great view of the canal locks themselves.

I loved the opportunity to actually see the locks in action. It was amazing to see the size of the ship that passed by while we were there. We received an update on the planned expansion to the Panama Canal.

There were no ships going thru for our visit---we did enjoy the 3-D movie in Spanish and English (fun to see/hear the differences) The museum was just OK ...kind of small and cramped inside. Taxi driver never came back to pick us up, so just took another back to our hotel.

Even if you don't think you'd enjoy seeing the locks, you should go. To see it in action is truly fascinating and unlike anything you've seen. Timing is key since there is a lull around 11:00 to noon as they switch the ship traffic direction (verify before you go). The locks and visitor center are located a short ride from... More

It was great to see the Canal's in action. We got lucky enough to view a cruise ship going through. It costs $15 USD for adults and $10 for kids (non-residents). The place has a 10 min 3D movie and has one restaurant and two little cafes where you can order a hot dog or something small. The Museum was also... More
