When in Panama...you can't really slip the thing this country is known for, right? We hoped to learn some interesting facts but found the 3d movie to be a gimmick (it's included in the $15 admission). The museum was better but filled with lots of staged "selfie" spots. The canal has a good viewing platform on the fourth floor and... More

We saw 2 ships go by which was awesome. Head straight to the 4th floor and make your way down. The museum is very cool and so was the 3D, 10 minute movie. Definitely worth seeing but don't plan on staying too long. I think 1.5 - 2 hours is enough.

Exhibits are high quality and provide very nice description and history of the canal. Skip the movie

The visitor center is very nice, accommodating hundreds of visitors on the day we toured. The main attraction, watching ships transit the locks, can be done from several floors; standing at street level, sitting at the restaurant (pricey!), or with a beer and an emperidado on the 4th floor observatory. The transits are all actively narrated in both Spanish and... More

The museum here is excellent, very well done. The area you view the canal from is very crowded and I did not like being smashed into the glass viewing area by tons of other tourists. Seems like they could build some seating that might increase chances of seeing the boats come and go without having to wrestle with other tourists... More

It's a good spot for viewing ships and seeing how the locks work. Unfortunately the construction site for the new channel is not visible from here. Also make sure you check the timing. The locks operate in one direction only and there was a three hour break when I was there. So you might actually not see any ships if... More

If trip is timed right, you only need about one hour to spend here. Right when we arrived, we were able to watch 3 ships go through the locks. Museum was interesting. It was very crowded & hard to find a good spot to see ships.

We drove ourselves to the visitors centre from Panama city and took a few wrong turns but finally made it there. The museum was very interesting and I especially enjoyed the simulated ''speeded up'' journey along the canal at the helm of a tanker. The view from the viewing platform was great and watching the tankers squeeze and scrape through... More

There was a lot of people ! I got there at 11 and the next ship didn't come until 3 so that was disappointing. $15 entrance, not bad. However there is just not that much to see or learn about about a canal... I spent 30 minutes there and didn't bother watching the movie because the line was so long... More

Highly recommend visit when you are in Panama. Touring Panama is a great vacation. From visiting native villages, the San Blass and Perles Islands, to the extremely modern Panama city. The Canal is extremely interesting. Whale watching, bird watching, many other natural attractions. The History and more await you in Panama.
