This site is popular for the tour groups (of course!). I got there at opening (9:00 a.m.) and was first on the viewing platform and secured a corner on the rail before the crowds followed. The movie and exhibit are well done. I learned that most of the workers who actually built the canal were from the Caribbean - particularly...

The locks are deservedly at the top of the "What to Do" lists for Panama City. They are a short drive away, and the entry fees are reasonable. Nice little walk through exhibits and a short educational film. Definitely visit!

Easy to get to, pretty cheap cab ride. Impressive display both outside and inside the museum. It's worth it to watch the little film, nothing groundbreaking, but if you don't know the history of the canal, it's a quick way to learn some.

There was a very good announcer who explained the mechanism of the locks. The movie they showed at the place was good too.
