the old part of Panama is being revamped and remodeled and it is just excellent. I would highly recommend a trip here!

We disembarked off the cruise at Colon for the day. My son's wonderful friends greeted the family and drove us to Panama City. A stop over for lunch and a look around the new city. I had visited the old city off a cruise ship almost 50 years ago. We drove to the old city and it took me back... More

We took some time out of our travels to visit the old city, or Casco Viejo (Casco Antigua) - there is the most beautiful church there dating back to 1671. From the outside (bridge to Amador causeway) the old city looks dirty and in need of lots of repair. But, if you get past the initial shock of the old... More

If you go to Casco Viejo once, you will not want to leave. It went from a run down city of rumble and facades to a transformed city with incredible architecture and wonderful restaurants!

Don't mix it with the site of "ancient Panama City* which is an archeological site. This is the old neighborhood of Panama city which was neglected for decades. It is now flourishing with new life and becoming the most expensive part of Panama city's property. Boutique hotels, restaurants, art shops, old churches. Colonial streets that kept their appeal thanks to... More

We wandered this city for several hours on two different days. It is an interesting place with great restaurants, lovely old churches, and a great museum.

We took a great tour where we got to see "El Casto Antiguo" of Panama. We felt very safe and it wasn't crowded. We learned a lot and enjoyed all the buildings and scenery. Also, we bought some beautiful craft and gifts from locals at a great price. Lovely experience.

This is a cute little part of the city. There are a few very old buildings, from the 16th and 17th centuries. It was quite safe and not overly touristy. There is a wonderful view of the Biomuseo from the Plaza de Francia, and also a lot of street vendors. Not a bad place to buy a souvenir or two, rather... More

"El casco antiguo" was precious! I loved the architecture and would've loved to have spent more time there (my schedule did not allow for it). I suggest going while it's still light out so you have some time to walk around the town while the locals are still selling crafts, and maybe take pictures of the area as well as... More
