its all in the process of being refurbished. The slum is gone and its now quaint to walk around . But a lot of buildings and stores are still being rebuilt.

Unfortunately we were in Panama during the low season so there was not much happening in the Old City. We did enjoy the architecture and certainly the little tourist shops are always fun. There are also great views of the Modern city and the ships approaching the canal. The downside - you have to travel through a shantytown to reach... More

LIked the vibe of Old Town, great restaurants. Disliked the dangerous area just outside of the main part of town. So dangerous that in the middle of the day two older women insisted we stop our walk and hightail it back by taxi.

Casco Viejo is in the process of being revitalized and is beginning to take shape. Its a nice walk with a few inside and outside markets. Prices are comparable to other places.

It was interesting for what it is, and what it isn't. Once the squatters move out and the dilapidated buildings repaired, it will be super-nice.

Great night life. People watching bars, roof top restaurants with fantastic views of the city. Great restaurants, indoor and outdoor seating. Salsa Dance hall. Jazz Club. Night Clubs. They got it all in this little part of town.

Casco Viejo is in the process of being revitalized, and it's almost done. The charming pave-stone streets invite you to stroll, enjoy a coffee or ice cream, and then linger over a leisurely meal. You can browse handcrafted items, window shop, or make it a destination by choosing one of the dozens of restaurants in the area.

There are two 'old cities' in Panama City and they are confused on trip advisor by some reviewers. It's easy to do given the similar names. Casco Viejo is also called Casco Antiguo. It is a district under restoration, has many shops and restaurants. Located on land along the water front. Fun area to spend some time. It was created... More

Some buildings were restored well, others were still in ruins which was cool too. A glimpse of how it looked in the colonial times. Nice old architecture, and you can view much of the "new" city across the water from there also.

What a wonderful old town with the stone streets and colonial style buildings. There are plenty of things to see and do here. You have plenty of choices of restaurants, bars, museums, churches, stores. It's great day and night. It reminded me of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
