In The Center

Again, it's a nice cathedral but not overly impressive. The outside is nice in it's construction and design, the inside a little ho-hum. There are nice stained glass windows.

Our tour guide took us to many churches in Casco Viejo. Many good stories and lovely architecture. Granny Bee would be proud!

If you are spending more than 1 or 2 days in Panama City, then Panama Viejo (burnt down in 1619) is worth a visit. Crumbled down ruins. Some with explanatory signs in Spanish and in English. The best maintained of the ruins is the bell tower of the old cathedral. Most of the four storeys are reconstructed and not the... More

Took several pics. The stonework was particularly interesting. From the iron gate to the textured walls, the structure was striking.

Nice quick site to view and great photo opportunity. Beautiful location and exterior with interesting art and alter area. Easy site to visit with no entrance fee just recommended donation for maintenance and restoration.

The Cathedral Metropolitana has one of the most interesting Baroque facad that I have ever seen. It is considered one of the largest in Central American. Look for the caged entrance of the tunnel stairs on the side of the altar. This is where the hide the religious artifacts from the pirates.
