After finding it closed on sunday, we returned for a quick visit on monday. It was a little but disappointing. We expected to see the black/golden altar, but either it wasn't there, or we missed it. Neighbourhood is nice , anyway.

This old Iglesia is amazing. Bicolor and contrasting Black and White. It is a center point to ciudad vieja. It is also a height of Spanish church design in Central America

As it presents itself in 2015, this is a tired, old cathederal in need of much, much restoration. If one let's their imagination wander, it's likely that this location has stories to tell which would inspire each of us many times over!

This ancient cathedral, its twin bell towers viewable from all over old Panama City, displays the true spirit of this great and vital metropolis. It's plaza is the best site for seeing the indiginous natives and for buying their beautiful craftworks

Currently undergoing steeple repairs, so lots of scaffolding out front. Still, access can be had, the interior is interesting, but nothing truly unique.

The cathedral is located in a main plaza. Unfortunately during our visit it was closed. We only could check the facade not the interiors. It's colonial architecture, made out of dark brown stones and well preserved. Around it you can find some food and handicrafts vendors.

Due to some renovations in progress, I couldn't see much. On the whole, I was not that impressed. It lacked grandeur. he plaza, however was quite nice, and the exterior of the cathedral is quirky enough to warrant some examination.

The Cathedral is one of the major attractions in the old city of Panama (Casco Viejo or Casco antiguo). It is located in a square called Plaza Catedral or Plaza de la Indeopendencia, where there is also the Presidential Palace and 2 museums. The construction of the Cathedral was finished in 1796 and it has a typical Spanish colonial architectural... More

Whilst the facade looks great from the outside the interior is really not that special. Still worth a quick walk around inside.
