Due to some renovations in progress, I couldn't see much. On the whole, I was not that impressed. It lacked grandeur. he plaza, however was quite nice, and the exterior of the cathedral is quirky enough to warrant some examination.

The Cathedral is one of the major attractions in the old city of Panama (Casco Viejo or Casco antiguo). It is located in a square called Plaza Catedral or Plaza de la Indeopendencia, where there is also the Presidential Palace and 2 museums. The construction of the Cathedral was finished in 1796 and it has a typical Spanish colonial architectural... More

Whilst the facade looks great from the outside the interior is really not that special. Still worth a quick walk around inside.

Took a couple of photos from the plaza across the street. Just as others before me have mentioned it's closed. It would be nice to see it restored to a more appealing exterior.

I was most disappointed to be shut out of this important structure. Obviously someone is making a bad decision not to make this historic and important church closed to the public. On a Sunday, no less.

Interesting from the outside but you cannot go in. Doesn't say when it will be open. I asked a few locals and they did not know either. To bad because the architecture from the outside is worth a look.

Once you read the story of how it was protected from pirates it becomes so romantic. If you happen to be here at Christmas time do... More

Great to walk. At the top you overlook part of the canal and the Skyline of panama. With some luck you see interesting birds - and I met even a Skunk with her baby.
