A lovely old church, well worn but a lovely place to spend some time out of the sun. They are renovating, but I frankly like it as it is. Walk the perimeter. Seems to be a resident "church cat".. Charming. Continue on to the many sites, shopping, scenic views and places to eat in the beautiful Old Town! And dress... More

When in Panama City try to go visit this historic cathedral. Simple, yet it has a good vibe. Spend sometime reading the history of this site.

During the week it was not very busy. So we had a quiet walk through. Nothing spectacular but then it is Old Panama. Went on out to the Plaza. There are roaming dogs downtown just loose. It spooked me so I just wanted to leave. Also this was mostly inaccessible to the disabled.

Outside is nice and old looks like the cathedral in Lima from the outside, but from within its nothing spectacular and actually quite drab. Cathedrals elsewhere in South America and Europe are much much nicer, kind of a let down on the inside.

This was a breath taking building from outside, but it was overwhelming inside. The ceiling is dark wood and timberframe construction (I believe). The main alter is colorful and regal. I am not a religious person so I am not sure I'm using the correct terms. The side chambers to the main room have statues and artwork that is just... More

who was it that decided each church needed to be more spectacular that the last one. the old surrounded by the new. A beautiful gold alter that was protected for many years. The walk around the old city must include a tour of the church. Wow

Needs some work, but I liked it and it's both iconic and historical to Panama. Pope John Paul had visited here. There is a nice little plaza or park in front of the church. With many families and tourists here. Not overcrowded which was good. The exterior of the church is typical colonial style cathedral. The interior of the church... More

As cathedrals go this place is average but it has a lot of history. The altar is worth seeing and the cathedral has been restored. It adds to the attraction of a stroll around the old part of Panama.
