If you like architecture and the history of churches then put this on your list of places to visit! I could have spent hours just moving around inside taking it all in and reading. It is still used for people to come and pray which made it even more special. Absolutely beautiful!

This church was apparently moved brick by brick for the original Panama city. Outside looks nice, but inside is gutted with construction taking place.currently

again the beauty of history and the architecture entwined. Its located in a square so with many little shops surrounding and places to eat like Rosso Diablo...I think I spelled that right...the food was great, not thrilled about the name. *wink*

One of several churches you can see on your tour of Casco Vieja. Highly recommend a walking tour to find them all.

I've seen this church on many postcards and advertisements for Panama and was anxious to see it in person. It's definitely a treasure. Take pictures and say a prayer.

It's impossible visiting Casco Viejo and missing the Cathedral. At the time we visited there were preparations for an outdoor concert and all the surrounding area was fairly crowded, making the visit quite difficult. Yet, this place cannot be left without the deserved attention; even if that means sitting in the garden pavilion placed in front of the cathedral, immersing... More

It's free, so can't complain that there's nothing inside. Just a basic shell. Look at the architectural features on the outside - mother-of-pearl on the tower tops, two construction periods. Out of the sun.

This is where Panama started. Grand hotel. Old town. Great restaurants. Great history. Can't miss sight.

As such we didn't find the Cathedral an extraordinary landmark, but it fits perfectly within the old town and gives you a good feel of the Spanish buildings in old Panama. Inside you'll notice a rather light decorated church (mainly white walls).
