During the week it was not very busy. So we had a quiet walk through. Nothing spectacular but then it is Old Panama. Went on out to the Plaza. There are roaming dogs downtown just loose. It spooked me so I just wanted to leave. Also this was mostly inaccessible to the disabled.

Outside is nice and old looks like the cathedral in Lima from the outside, but from within its nothing spectacular and actually quite drab. Cathedrals elsewhere in South America and Europe are much much nicer, kind of a let down on the inside.

This was a breath taking building from outside, but it was overwhelming inside. The ceiling is dark wood and timberframe construction (I believe). The main alter is colorful and regal. I am not a religious person so I am not sure I'm using the correct terms. The side chambers to the main room have statues and artwork that is just... More

who was it that decided each church needed to be more spectacular that the last one. the old surrounded by the new. A beautiful gold alter that was protected for many years. The walk around the old city must include a tour of the church. Wow

Needs some work, but I liked it and it's both iconic and historical to Panama. Pope John Paul had visited here. There is a nice little plaza or park in front of the church. With many families and tourists here. Not overcrowded which was good. The exterior of the church is typical colonial style cathedral. The interior of the church... More

As cathedrals go this place is average but it has a lot of history. The altar is worth seeing and the cathedral has been restored. It adds to the attraction of a stroll around the old part of Panama.

This entire section of Panama City has a lot of old churches and old history. Each church is unique in it's own way. I can't imagine anyone giving a church a negative review lol. This cathedral adds a lot of character to Casco Viejo. Absolutely safe area. Many police and travelers are around this area.

It's a church. It has some nice iconography, but otherwise it's in bad shape and in need of repair. Take five and go in it, but don't expect to be blown away.

The day we visited. Weather was great. Church was somewhat crowded with many tourists. The central alter is magnificent. Only the middle section is gold but the entire central front alter is also painted gold to blend in very well with the original gold alter. The various areas around the interior have stations depicting various saints and are very well... More

If the inside of the cathedral is anything like the outside, I imagine it would have been spectacular. We did not have time from our tour to go inside, but our guide did point out that the roofs are covered in Mother of Pearl, so the inside would have been great to see. There are other UNESCO heritage sites in... More
