The Embera Indians are unique, friendly, hardworking and beautiful! I l admire the woven bowl in my kitchen daily as my reminder of the day we spent learning of their culture. When my 11 year old danced with the man with the "naked butt" my husband will always remind her of her first dance and we will laugh! The lunch... more

My daughter and I had the memorable experience of spending the day with the wonderful Embera people of the village Parara Puru. Our guide was Anne Gordon, and I can't recommend her highly enough. Her knowledge of the tribe and laid-back personality made the day so enjoyable. We left our Panama City hotel around 8:30am and drove to the boat... more

Just returned from a trip from Panama City up the Chagras River by dug out boat to visit the Embera Indians. We were treated to an awesome lunch of fresh fish, plantains, and yuca fries cooked by the native indians. Wonderful dance presentation and learn about the culture of these amazing people. We were taken by an awesome guide -... more

I really enjoyed the tour to the Embera Village, the best tour to take in Panama . If you are thinking of booking this tour , you need to do it with Garceth Cunampio( the best tour guide in Panama ) he explains everything with details and he was born in one of the Villages , so I was able... more

This was a stunning experience. You certainly need somewhat of an adventurous spirit, however, you will be amply rewarded with a very memorable experience. Garceth led our tour, he is a great guide, patient and informative. He is Embera so was very knowledgeable for all our questions. The canoe ride is great fun, we were just glad we didn't have... more

While our guide was very knowledgeable and everything went smoothly, I ended up feeling a bit disappointed about this daytrip. Because of water levels, we went to a different village then originally planned. We felt awkward once we arrived and didn’t really feel comfortable interacting with the members of the village. They seemed incredibly bored to have to dance for... more

We visited Embera Puru with Anne Gordon and it was definitely the best day of our 2 week vacation in Panama. This village is the home of her husband's family so she is totally plugged in to the people there. It was a fascinating experience to see them living such a simple life. Check her website and you'll get way... more

My husband and I took a tour of Embera Village with Garceth Cunampio (www.emberatourspanama.com) and had a wonderful, authentic Embera experience. Garceth picked my husband and myself at 8:30 a.m. at our hotel and drove about and hour and a half to Chagres River where we took a 45-minute canoe ride to Embera Drua Village. We saw some wildlife during... more

Our family of 6 including our children ages 18/15/12/10 yrs stayed overnight at the Embera Puru village. Since Anne was unavailable for that day she arranged for Garceth Cunampio to be our guide for the day and night we spent amidst these very warm and friendly people. While it was not an inexpensive visit (about $700 for our family of... more

ths trip to panama was fantastic but the trip to visit the Embera Quera village was spectacular. Anne Gordon shares her family with you and reminds you about what travel and in turn life is all about. The culture and warmth of these people is overwhelming. Do yourself and anyone else crazy enough to canoe up a river in rural... more
