We had a relaxing afternoon on the Causeway. We had a cab take us from the Casco Viejo to Flamingo Island and drop us off there ($4). We rode the little double bike thing around for about 30 minutes ($4/half hour). We started walking back, but it was about to rain so we grabbed a cab. There were lots of... more

While staying in Panama over a 10 day trip, we decided to rent bikes and make a day out of siteseeing on the Amador Causeway. What a great decision!! We rented from a place right next to the performing arts center (I believe the name was Bikes & More) so we got to bike a good portion of the causeway.... more

I just spent 40 days in Panama. Most of them in Panama City. I was a frequent visitor of the Amador Causway. It is appx a 4 mile long walk into the Pacific Ocean. One side of the "Causway" is the Panama City skyline and the other side is the entrance to the Canal. The Causway is very relaxing for... more

Lived on the causeway umpteen years ago. Whatta difference today. Was there in Sep '08 and was astonished to see hotels, restaurants, dozens of retail stores, condos, museums, fishing pier, and scores of people on the weekend. You won't be disappointed more

The "Calzada de Amador" it is just a nice place by the sea. You can walk, ride a bike, have a nice lunch or just sit and take a look at the city skyline. It also has a duty free shop near some restaurants. Not much more than that, but of the little choice Panama City has to offer it... more

Overview: This is a roadway/walkway built from the rock excavated from building the canal. It extends outward from Panama' City and connects three separate small islands. After the USA left, Panama' developed this area into a resort like area with expensive restaurants, shops, and the like. You can find people enjoying themselves running, biking, and walking on the walkways. It... more

The Amador Causeway, joining three small islands, is relatively quiet in the daytime (except Sundays when the locals come back from the beaches). For us it was the perfect time to enjoy it as we had it practically to ourselves! We stayed with Amador Suites (some furnished apartment rental right there) and rented bikes everyday to travel the 5km to... more

Good place for some sights, food, drinking. Relatively safe, but of course always travel in groups at night anywhere outside the US. Reminds me of a beginning stage of Chicago's Navy Pier without a Ferris Wheel. You can drive there as parking is ample. more

This is a great place to spend much more than a few hours of time, you can rent a bicycle from numerous vendors at the entrance, be sure to haggle on the price or the hours on the use of the bike, because everything is negotiable, I messed up and paid $2.50 for and hour (1 hour not nearly enough... more

We read about Amador in a travel book we had purchased saying it was a happening place. Hopped into a cab to go check it out on a recent visit. Got out to thte end of the road and took some pix of the city from there. Wandered about and not much going on. Lots of restaurants in a series... more
