Recommended only if you are truly interested in tropical plants or if you want to see the harpy eagle. The zoo is very small, the plants are mostly not labelled, the glorious days of the place looks like are gone, but again, if you like tropical plants you can find some gems, or if lucky even taste some mangosteens!

Many people come to Panama to experience "that" tropical jungle feel, they are attracted by the climate and nature with all its esplendor. Although there are more undisturbed areas with much thicker jungle, Summit it is a definite plus if you are limited in time because it is within city limits and still want to see and feel a jungle.... Summit is a nice place. Gardens and a zoo. If you are lucky you will see many species of birds that you miss in the forest. The entrance fee is cheap and the place has a group of dedicated staff and volunteers who are both educating and caring for Panama's wildlife.

Don't miss this one. The best exhibit is a walk inside the zoo to the harpy eagle exhibit. Don't forget to see it! Also, the bamboo forest is unique and interesting.

Not a big draw but interesting. Different indigenous animals rescued from Jaguars to Toucans. Birds were most interesting, monkeys were fun. Very hot, not much breeze. Hour max. A little run down. Worth the stop on way to Gamboa. We did same as most, but hired the car, Cost about $100, for 3 hours. Stopped at Locks on way back... More

Not an enormous number of animals here but some lovely tropical plants & trees. I read somewhere that the animals that are here are generally in poor & cramped cages. I have seen zoo's that have made me cry in the past ( Sofia, Bulgaria possibly the worst ) but i didn't see any issues with conditions here to upset... More

This place, a $ 13 taxi fare each way from the city, is a p,easy to walk to see tropical trees and some animals in sorry cages. The animals, mostly different cats and monkeys, looked good! You can walk around for an hour or so. It is nothing super special but pleasant enough and isn't too far from the Canal... More

Large, well-maintained grounds with paved walkways. Beautiful and interesting flora, including a really cool bamboo forest. We saw various species of monkeys and cats, some toucans and parrots, an anteater and a tayra, a caiman, a tapir, and of course, the harpy eagle - a majestic bird with a tiny peep of a voice! We arranged a taxi from our... More

I went there from Miraflores locks since it was close. Cost me 10$ taxi to go there... We waited for a bus but jobe showed for a long time so we decided to take a taxi forth and back (20$) They have rescued animals like tattoos, birds, monkeys, anteaters, crocos, an eagle... It's nice though better for families who wanna... More

Beautiful lush tropical plants, lots of native plants & trees. Paved trails. They have zoo, thats a santuary for injured native animals, and wild animals confiscated or turned in for rehibiliation. I saw a jaguar, other big cats, tucans, monkeys and an eagle. a very nice facility, lots of birds. A very good value.
