Family and I went this last Saturday. Incredible! Recommend that you take the full tour all the way to Colon. $165 and $75 for kids. The trip across the lake and the last set of locks was incredible. You really get a sense of the power of the locks when you decend to the Caribbean side. Gus, the tour guide... more

My father and I took the train from Panama City to Colon -- it leaves at 7:15 am. Be sure and get there at 6:30 for tickets and seats. The train goes through the scenic route next to the Canal most of the way. The snack bars on each car have maps that explain the Locks system and are helpful... more

We did a partial transit with the Canal and Bay Tour company. They were surly and rude when taking our money. At $115 each for 4 people Ps and Qs should be used. Other than that the transit was pretty much as expected. Food was good, unlimited drinks and hot lunch. Eat breakfast before you leave, you don't get on... more

the entrance is $8 and that includes everything: the museum, the video and the terrace from where you can see the giant ships go by. taxi from el cangrejo district no more than $10. do watch the little movie about the history of the canal. bring sunblock,a camera and enjoy the view. from there you can take a bus or... more

We visted the Miraflores Visitor's Center this week. First, it's good to see that Panama has finally realized that it has a tourist attraction on it's hands and built something for people to actually visit. When I was there 20 years ago in the military, they made it practically impossible to visit the canal. Now, here's the interesting thing. In... more

February is the greatest time to go to Panama. The other times is rainy & humid like people dont know in the US. Feb is best, let me say that again. Best time to get a good tan, other times too rainy. Anyways the Carnivale in the city is the best, has most parade/floats. Go in the evening. Day is... more

Recently, I visited Panama and went over to Miraflores Locks and viewed ships as they transit the canal. I had been through the canal several times when I was an engineer on vessels with the Defense Department but this was the first time that I was able to actually view them as they went through the canal. The viewing platform... more

We really enjoyed the museum, but also its deck overlooking Mira Flores lock. The running comentary on the deck answered most of our questions and was very interesting as we watched a couple of ships go completely through the lock. Kids will love the simulation piloting a ship through the canal on the top floor of the museum, too. The... more

If you are in Panama there is no way you can miss the Canal, because is interesting and because the rest of the city doesnt have much to offer. We went to the Miraflores Locks at a saturday morning, and bought the U$S 8 ticket that allows you to go into the museum and watch a little video about the... more
