Panama is such a beautiful country. It would be easy to jusitfy a visit to Panama based on this alone. However, the fact that one of the great engineering feats of mankind can be found in Panama makes it a "must experience" for me. Watching ships pass through in the canal was an amazing experience and during my visit, I... more

I visited the Panama Canal with a day stopover on flights from Los angeles to Buenos. I chose to use AFM Tours (Miguel Solis, Manager, [--]) who met me at the airport when I arrived on CopaAir. I had not used AFM Tours previously but Miguel was very informative and we visited the first two locks. Miraflores has an excellent... more

A Princess Cruise through the Panama Canal was truly amazing. On the Pacific side and with just a very few inches to spare on either side of the ship, we passed through three sets of locks, sailed across Gatun Lake, then passed through three more sets of locks emerging on the Pacific side. more

Family and I went this last Saturday. Incredible! Recommend that you take the full tour all the way to Colon. $165 and $75 for kids. The trip across the lake and the last set of locks was incredible. You really get a sense of the power of the locks when you decend to the Caribbean side. Gus, the tour guide... more

My father and I took the train from Panama City to Colon -- it leaves at 7:15 am. Be sure and get there at 6:30 for tickets and seats. The train goes through the scenic route next to the Canal most of the way. The snack bars on each car have maps that explain the Locks system and are helpful... more

We did a partial transit with the Canal and Bay Tour company. They were surly and rude when taking our money. At $115 each for 4 people Ps and Qs should be used. Other than that the transit was pretty much as expected. Food was good, unlimited drinks and hot lunch. Eat breakfast before you leave, you don't get on... more

We visted the Miraflores Visitor's Center this week. First, it's good to see that Panama has finally realized that it has a tourist attraction on it's hands and built something for people to actually visit. When I was there 20 years ago in the military, they made it practically impossible to visit the canal. Now, here's the interesting thing. In... more

February is the greatest time to go to Panama. The other times is rainy & humid like people dont know in the US. Feb is best, let me say that again. Best time to get a good tan, other times too rainy. Anyways the Carnivale in the city is the best, has most parade/floats. Go in the evening. Day is... more
