It does not matter if you do the Full or the Partial transit of the Panama Canal you still would have to check off #5 from the list of 100 Journeys of a Lifetime by National Geographic. Canal and Bay Tours has been offering both transits for over 12 years and we are committed in assisting you to create a memorable experience. Both transits are an all-day affair with breakfast, lunch, and non-alcoholic refreshments included. Your once in a lifetime experience of transiting the Panama Canal begins with check in at the Playita de Amador and boarding one of our three vessels; Tuira II, Fantasia del Mar, or Isla Morada. Aboard our vessel you be on the Pacific Ocean and will pass under the Bridge of the Americas, through the Mira Flores and Pedro Miguel Locks, beneath the Centenario Bridge, through Culebra Cut, and ending in Gatun Lake which was the largest man-made lake in the world. You will also observe the construction of the second set of locks otherwise known as the Expansion of the Panama Canal.

I tried numerous times to reach their state-side number over a period of days, to no avail. Desk clerk at hotel in Panama City also had no luck. This got them a mediocre rating. We finally booked thru another agent in P-city, barefood tours. They were great. Thanks, Kev. The tour itself was interesting and well naraated by "Uncle Marti,"... More

Took the 1/2 day transit tour through the canal. The bus was late in the morning but got us to the ferry on time. Riding through the canal was an amazing experience. I suggest this be the most important thing you do on any trip to Panama City. Transit back to the hotel via bus took forever.

Signed up at hotel for convenience factor of getting picked up there, rather than taking taxi to central location, the “shuttle” (van) stopped at a couple of other hotels and picked up a few other people. On the road for about 45 min to the main centralized facility (along the causeway out to the remote islands) to meet up with... More

We enjoyed taking a half-transit of the Panama Canal with this company. Ay $135 dollars, it was a bargain compared to taking a cruise ship through the canal! The trip includes full narration in English and Spanish. The guide spoke clearly and gave us a lots of interesting information which enhanced the trip. Lunch was included and was very satisfying.... Even though earlier reviews weren't so good, we decided to do this and I'm so glad we did. It was excellent, plenty of room on the boat, great lunch buffet, unlimited soft drinks and water, beer for sale for just $2, reasonable. Great tour guide, crew safe and professional, the canal is awesome and being right there with the big... More

We were told the bus would pick us up at 8:15. At 7:25 the desk clerk called to tell us our bus was waiting. After driving for an hour and a forty five minutes we were at the pick up point, an hour later by bus we arrived at the dock to board the boat. The tour itself was very... More

We decided to go on this tour after having it recommended to us by our hotel's concierge. It sounded like a great tour – going through a few locks of the Panama Canal and then going back by bus. It was not. We got on the boat rather late, so almost all of the cheap plastic seats were already occupied.... More

I'm actually writing this on the boat on the canal - bring a book! First of all - when booking my ticket online for the complete trip from panama city to colon; I called & asked about veg options for food. None. OK. Fine. I'll bring my own lunch. Then I buy it & they ask what hotel I'm staying... More

The day was very well informed. The e-mail told us what time we would be picked up and explained all the possible problems that could cause delay. The boat was well kept and the food was good and plentiful. The guide was very informative in both Spanish and English. It rained but everyone could go inside, below the boat or... More

For those a bit pressed for time, a half transit is your ticket to see the workings of the Canal from inside, with very informative background provided by the bilingual guide. He knew the topic well, adding much value to the 6 hour experience which does have its slow moments. Hat and sunscreen necessary. This company uses a copy of the... More
