These islands are a 2 hour ferry ride from Panama City. We stayed on the Isla Contadora. Limited places to eat and accommodations but very peaceful and quite. We felt like we had the whole island to ourself. The beaches have nice sand and the water is a greenish turquoise. Some decent snorkeling right off the beach. Spent two nights... More

If you are looking for a quick weekend trip from Panama City, this island is a decent option. The ferry to Contadora is quick and affordable. However, it does not dock at the pier; be prepared to disembark onto small fishing boats and then wade your way onto the beach. The embarkation area has no sun cover, so be prepared.... More

Excellent service to take a trip out to Contadora in the Las Perlas island chain off the coast of Panama. The ship leaves from the Balboa Yacht Club at 7:30 am and return from Isla Contadora at 3:30 pm. The round trip cost is $90 and well worth the price as the ship gets you there in 90 minutes and... This is best fast trip to get excellence beaches near Panama City. One hour and half sailing with ferry you get to Contadora Island, the mainly island in Archipelago of Las Perlas. Heed the opportunity during august thru october, the whale watching season.

I would not in anyway dissuade anyone from visiting this Island and it is of course a great base for visiting the other islands however I think its best to not ignore the fact that the this particular island is hitting a low spot. Its very sad to see the sides of the roads heavily littered with plastic water bottles,... More

However in October the worst experience was the trip by las perlas ferry. Avoid it! No professional at all. We took 4 hours instead hour and a... More

There are over 200 islands in the archipelago. A few that are fun to visit are... Contradora, the most populated, has been on a downward spiral since the resort closed in 2009. Several of the beaches are maintained and kept clean but most are not. There are a few hotels but I highly recommend a day trip so that you... More

I recently visited at The Point hotel on Contadora Island, which we used as a based to explore Las Perlas. On our first day we took their trip to Bartolome Island for a day at the beach. While the beach was beautiful, it didn't compare to the wildlife tour we took the next morning. We were fascinated by the dolphins... More
