I love to watch the passing weather patterns, the boats on the lake and the tasty snacks at the restaurants on the rim of this fascinating water filled volcano. More

Spent time at a very humble hotel on the lake shore. Good food & cheap drink. Room wasn't the cleanest & shower was sketchy, but a fun break More

I visit lake Coatepeque frequently with tourist visiting El Salvador. Many times I just stop and look from one of the many lookouts and some times I go down to the lake shore and have lunch at one of the restaurants that have dock over hanging the water. It is always one of my favorite stops as the colors always... More

The lake has a very beautiful view, I enjoyed a very nice day trip to the Lake from San Salvador and it was worth it! I wouldn't say is the most beautiful lake in the world, but it was a very nice break from the city. If you have some days you can stay a couple of nights there and... More

Beautiful view. Enjoyed a leisurely lunch. Better to take in view, from the top. Private homes on the water usually have high walls that surround them, not able to see lake nearly as well. More

The lake is lined by housing but a couple of restaurants and hotels make for a lovely afternoon (and dip, if you like) with decks spanning over the water and good food and drinks in the sun... More

Gorgeous spot - El Salvador's answer to cottage country. Great litte open air bars / resturants overlooking a volcanoe lake. Looks like it gets pretty busy on weekends (as with any great spot). Likely best to try during the week and outside of holidays if you are looking for a tranquil experience. More

About an hour away from San Salvador, this smallish lake was formed when a volcano collapsed. The lake is gorgeous and it is surrounded by beautiful houses. Unlike many tourist places in El Salvador, this place is pretty safe as it houses many weekend retreats of wealthier Salvadorans. If you go, try to rent a jet ski, boat or any... More
