My favorite feature of this cathedral was the beautiful mosaic by Fernando Llort in the front, but it was destroyed by the archbishop on January 2012, the inside is also very beautiful but like any other cathedral.

A beautiful structure in the heart of San Salvador, adjacent to the huge central market. There are "tourist police" in abundance in the plaza fronting the church. An easy taxi ride from, eg, Hotel Alicante (near UCA).

The Cathedral is beautiful, but if you've ever visited other cathedrals in Latin America, you pretty much know what to expect in terms of decorations. Recently the beautiful mosaic that decorated the facade was torn down, which is a pity.
