As we were driving by with a guide the unusual architecture of the church caught my eye. Luckily for me the guide had a stop planned. All I can say is WOW, this place definately is worth a visit.

Our visit to this free attraction was unforgettable. The evening light coming in through the windows is pure wonder. The church will not win any prizes for being beautiful. It is quite blah, and it fits in to san salvador quite nicely because of that. However the interior must be witnessed for the "light show" that goes on. Go on... More

Although the outside is not impressive, the interior is one of the finest modern spaces I've ever experienced. The soft light of windows with all the shades of the spectrum create a contemplative and welcoming aura; the use of metal and concrete in the images of the Pentitential Chapel are extremely evocative and much more moving than the usual plaster... Visiting Iglesia El Rosario was the highlight of my trip to San Salvador. While I captured some beautiful photos to share with family and friends, there really aren't words to describe how beautiful this simple church is. The architectural aspects of this site are worth the trip alone. The difference between the cold dark concrete exterior and the bright, warm... More

This place has a mystic, almost Gothic air, like the Ste Chapelle in Paris, despite being very modern in design. The interior decoration is done with scrap metal, is very imaginative and innovative, but this does not take away from the religious feel of the church. It is a part of San Salvador's history, built on the site of the... More

It looks like a disused bus station from the outside, but step inside, the light and colours are magical. You can find photos on our blog

If you are visiting San Salvador, I would recommend stopping by this church. It has a unique and beautiful stain glass design that arches above the church. There is also an "eye" on the back wall, which will change with the light of the day. Just beautiful. Also, there were wonderful sculptures towards the back of the church. I was... More

La Iglesia El Rosario looks like a fortress on the outside. Indeed, it was a place where a pastor friend and his family of young children took refuge when shooting started in Liberty Plaza across the street during the Civil War. Many others took refuge there, also. I have been there twice in the past year. The impression of being... More

Skanky on the outside, pretty cool inside. Felt more like a modern art museum than a church. Even the statues and fixtures were modern works of art. Worth at least 15 minutes. Not worth a special trip downtown, but a must see when visiting other nearby sites with a few minutes walk. NOTE: Did not open until 2PM the day... More

Shocking. So beautiful it is shocking. Of course, it would depend on one's personal taste, but as to mine? This was my favorite church I have ever seen. And I've been to all of them. This is super, hyper modern, industrial chic, twisted metal, stained glass at odd angles. It was sort of art gallery meets church. The outside is... More
