Better on the inside

Similar to the cathedral in Rio in that it looks nothing from the outside but the stained glass produces a good effect inside. Nowhere near as good a Rio though.

Ugly on the outside but really beautiful on the inside. Has beautiful lighting from the colored windows. Beautiful art inside as well. Definitely worth seeing

Iglesia El Rosario is very plain on the outside, but very beautiful on the inside with light streaming thru really beautiful stained glass windows.

Well what a surprise! The building is seriously ugly from the outside, with stained concrete. But once inside it is absolutely magnificent and a beautiful haven in a noisy, dusty, but perfectly safe and friendly city centre. Well worth a visit.

Our timing was off, but our tour guide made special arrangements to visit this beautiful church, and I am so pleased that he did! It is awe inspiring! So impressed with the fifteen stations of the cross--attached three photos to inspire my reader to be sure to go to see it yourself!

Viewed late in the day, the colors through the stained glass were gorgeous. Mario, our Nahuat Tours guide, made sure we noticed the bullet holes from the revolution still found in the door and above the priest's chair. Be sure to see the abstract Stations of the Cross. Well worth the visit.

This was the last attraction I was supposed to visit in my 5-day long (but-not-so-long) Belize-El Salvador vacation, and it was right what I needed. It really is a peaceful place, and I was reminded of the Lotus Bahai temple in Delhi, till the sermon began, which was also nice. Could not however take advantage of this visit completely, since... Perhaps, the best place to meditate and forget about the noisy fast-paced downtown San Salvador. Massess are early morning and in the afternoon. Sermons are conforting and the wide open spaces therein allow you to sit alone with your thouhgts and taslk to your creator in a way you would only on top of an isolated cabin in the woods.... More

San Salvador's downtown hides the most beautiful non-colonial church in El Salvador and proves the saying "do not judge a book by its cover". Surrounded by smog and noisy from a crowded street, you'll be impressed by a magnificence and colorful arquitecture. A very interesting stop if you're in San Salvador. However, I highly recommend having a guide or someone who is familiar with it be there with you, because only they can explain all the unique features of the church and share its history. If you walk in green you will not get a full appreciation for this site.
