St. Volodymyr's Cathedral in Kyiv is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever been to. There is much more light and it is much more airy than most Orthodox churches. What makes St. Volodymyr's special is the unusual iconography -- a brilliant mix of traditional Eastern Christian icons and Art Nouveau. The artists who decorated the church must... More

Generaly, Kyiv is full of churchs and cathedrals. Volodymyr's Cathedral was the first church i visited. I stayed not far from at Hilton Hotel. Powerful church which full of religious and faith. Just come and see. If you come on other side of bulvar Shevchenko you can go to Botanik Garden. Entrance is free. There you can make a good... More

It's a beautiful old church in the centre of the city. It was painted by the famous artists - Vasnetsov, Kotarbinsky, Nesterov and have a big value as an art object. As for me - must see in Kiev.

St Volodymyr's Cathedral looks like “fairy-like box” thanks to best Russian and Ukrainian artist of 19 century: Viktor Vasnetsov, Mikhail Nesterov, Kostenko, Pymonenko, Mikhail Vrubel and many-many others. I think all famous Art Nouveau artists (Alphonse Mucha, Gustav Klimt) would be happy to paint Cathedral. Any religion was prohibited during USSR-period in Ukraine. Cathedral has been opened in 1980-ies, and... More

This was a really nice church. The interior was immaculate. Plus, it is located downtown near other sites and across the street from the Botanical Gardens. It's worth checking out.

Apparently, this church stands independently from the Patriarch and is ran by a minority of separatists that claim that the Russian Orthodox church as fallen and theirs is the only right way. Nothing new when it comes to these "political" outbursts in the religious entities. As a church, it's gorgeously ornamented and the icons that it contains are amazing! Well... More

This cathedral was my favorite of the ones I visited in Kiev, beautiful inside and out, felt like a place of worship and not a museum. It is sometimes lit at night, which is really striking.

Very beautifull cathedral. i am religious person, so for me was interesting to visit and see beautifull icons and enjoy the architecture. Can't tell the travellers a lot about the history of the cathedral, but it is worth seeing.
