The setting and architecture of St. Andrews, perched atop the picturesque winding street full of street vendors selling art and souvenirs, is worth the visit. Stepping through the doors, you will feel you stepped into another century, as the ornate church will dazzle your senses, while also providing a sense of peace and tranquility ( if there aren't too many... Very picturesque, with a commanding view over the suburbs of Podil and the Dnipro. In fact, if you are coming in to Kiev centre via the Havansky Bridge, it is the most impressive view of the church, standing proud over the city. Located at the summit of Andiyivsky Uzviz, it is probably the most photogenic of the Kiev churches. Lovely... More

What a beautiful building. The Baroque church was founded by Empress Elizabeth of Russia in 1745 designed by Bartolomeo Rastrelli. Its location on Andriyivska Hill means it towers over the city and the Podil district below. It is decorated in a pleasing pale blue and gold colour scheme. Its unique wooden interior includes many icons topped off by one of Jesus using... More

If you like Cathedrals then whoopy do, if you're sick of Cathedrals then avoid. I've been to far too many Cathedrals to get excited about any, other than the truly amazing ones. Also, most of the other Cathedrals in the area are very similar.

This church stood out for its ornate decor, over the top for my tastes but definitely striking. There was a baptism underway while we were there, which was a nice moment.

This is a really beautiful church, both inside and out, that I most probably would have missed out on visiting had I not booked a private tour. Entrance is free, but a pass to take pictures inside is very very cheap and well worth the money, plus probably helps the upkeep of such a beautiful church. It was a real... More

This beautiful Christian Orthodox church has virtually been rebuilt brick by brick and carving by carving. It occupies a magnificent site of top of a hill with wonderful views of Kiev. The paintings, carvings and gilded sculptures are breathtaking both inside and out. If you can time your visit with the priests chanting their liturgy, then you are in for... More
