We were lucky to catch last performance in the season. The level is very good, if you have been in Vein Opera you will be not disappointed in Kiev Opera too.

A very fun evening if you have the time. It was my first opera and really enjoyed it. The building itself is amazing and very similar to the opera house in Phantom of the Opera.

the opera house is in the heart of the city. every day there is a representation and prices are ridiculously cheap compared to operas in the western world. it's also very democratic with attendees showing up in very casual clothes. the building interiors are incredible, spend time admiring the dome's volta in the opera hall. been there over 10 times.

The building itself deserves a visit due to its architecture and interior design. Acoustics are very good, as a result any performance is enjoyable - opera, symphony, ballet.

Saw a performance of Swan Lake. Beautifully staged and danced. The orchestra was terrific. Being accustomed to US big city prices, the $40 US seemed like a real deal for fifth row center seats. Got the ticket just a day ahead...the economic and political situation in Ukraine has probably hurt the cultural event attendance. This should have been a sell... More

I love this venue. I recently saw their performance of Madam Butterfly. The price for admission is reasonable; $5 per show. It is a classy and affordable date night. The atmosphere is relaxed; I don't need to dress in formal attire. I also appreciate the fact that I can see performances from some of my favorite impressionist era composers (Stravinsky... More

Brought same day tickets on a whim and was shocked to find out they were under $5 USD - still have great seats and was able to enjoy a fantastic show. Would recommend for a great night out

We (a couple) had a chance to visit this opera house one October evening to watch "Le Corsaire." The building was much more memorable than the ballet that we watched. Above the entrance, we saw a huge head of famous Ukrainian poet and writer Taras Shevchenko. Inside, it was also beautiful and spacious with many balconies decorated in red and... More

we, personally, visit opera very often. so I really can advise to visit it during you stay Kiev. several tips: 1. all operas and ballet are in classical perfomans, i.e. decorations, costumes, dances are classical and correspond to original. 2. no strict dress code. well... it means that you will be able to come in jeans and sweater even to...
